When it comes to exercising, commitment is what produces results.
A 39-year commitment to daily workouts has not only helped this 74-year-old maintain his health, but it’s also gotten folks thinking he’s much, much younger than that. Xinmin Yang, a Chinese bodybuilder, got involved in the sport many years ago. Ever since then, daily exercise and a healthy diet have been key reasons he’s been able to maintain such a good bill of health. He has earned hundreds of bodybuilding titles in his lifetime. And while he no longer competes, he credits bodybuilding training for his younger appearance. In 2018, his doctor was impressed and even told him that he didn’t “look a day over 60.”
Exercising daily and eating a diet packed with fiber and protein are the keys to his healthy lifestyle. For example, he eats six to eight eggs for breakfast. He’s also a big fan of tomatoes and chicken breasts. “I’ve been eating like this for almost 10 years,” Xinmin said.
You might think that, over time, Xinmin would slow down, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, he continues his workouts for as long as he can. “I’m confident that I can keep training until I’m 75 years old,” Xinmin said. “Then hopefully I can keep training when I’m 80. And then 85. I want to push the limits of the human body.”
Xinmin’s story came to light after someone posted a video of him exercising on a social networking website with the words: “This 70-year-old man looks like he’s in his 30s after 35 years of everyday workout.” The post has since gained the attention of social media users all over the world, who all agree it’s indubitable that Xinmin looks amazing for his age and that it’s clear that he brings new meaning to the saying, “Age is nothing but a number.”

As Valentine’s Day approaches, the price of cocoa has never been higher.
The cost of the key component in chocolate has been rising for over two years. In the past year, it has more than doubled. This month, it broke the all-time record from 1977, the year before Hershey introduced Reese’s Pieces.
“Quite honestly, all of our chocolates have increased in price,” says Ginger Park, who has run a chocolate shop named Chocolate Chocolate in Washington, D.C., for 40 years. The sweets arrive here from Switzerland, Belgium, Vermont and Kansas City, Mo. “We try not to raise the prices on our customers. But, you know, there are times when we have to — we have no choice. Our purchase price keeps rising. I don’t know when it will return to normal...”
The cocoa trouble results from extreme weather in West Africa, where farmers grow the majority of the world’s cocoa beans.
“There were massive rains, and then there was a massive dry spell coupled with wind,” says CoBank senior analyst Billy Roberts. “It led to some pretty tough growing conditions for cocoa, including pests and disease.”
Now, cocoa harvests are coming up short for the third year in a row. Regulators in the top-producing Ivory Coast at one point stopped selling contracts for cocoa exports altogether because of uncertainty over new crops.
Every day, Roberts would check on cocoa futures — which is how investors trade in cocoa — and their price would leap closer to that 47-year-old record. Last week, it jumped over the record and kept going. Already this year, cocoa has recorded one of the biggest price gains of all commodities(商品) traded in the United States.

Last week, two unusual groups—the same companies that are causing the most pollution, the BP oil company and Delta Airlines, both announced plans to become carbon neutral(碳中和)by 2050. Several other large oil companies, like Shell, Total, and Eni, have announced similar goals. Delta Airlines, also announced plans to become carbon neutral over the next 10 years. Other airlines, like Qantas and JetBlue, are working on the same plan. Since airline travel causes roughly 2-3% of the world’s greenhouse gases, making airlines carbon neutral would be a great step. But some people believe the companies are “greenwashing”. They are actually running the businesses the way they used to perform, and none plan to stop their polluting activities right away.
Global heating is a huge part of the climate emergency. The world is getting hotter mainly because humans are burning “fossil fuels” like coal, oil, and natural gas to make energy. These fuels give off pollution often called greenhouse gases. To become carbon neutral, it’s necessary to stop burning fossil fuels, and instead use more renewable energy. However, the companies plan to meet some climate goals by buying “carbon offsets”, which means paying someone else to cut pollution or remove greenhouse gases, usually by planting more trees. But it’s not always clear that offsetting truly lowers pollution.
Manmade technology to remove large amounts of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere doesn’t exist yet. The idea behind this technology is that polluting gases could be removed from the atmosphere, captured(捕获), and stored somehow—usually underground. Though many questions remain about how the companies hope to meet their goals, since the main technology they need doesn’t exist yet, their planned changes are keeping up with the development of modern society. What’s more, they are putting billions of dollars into the effort to make carbon capture technology happen.
