Free talk: What is your hobby? Can you do it well? Then lead in the topic—abilities. Step 2: Pre-reading Have pupils look at the pictures on Page 14.15. T presents the questions: Who are in the picture? What are they talking about? Are they good at their hob bies? Step 3: While-reading: 1. Listen and answer: a. What are their hobbies? b. How are their abilities? (Can …well? / Is …very good at…?) 2. Read the dialogue freely and find out how well can they do their hobbies. 3. Role play. 4. Retell the dialogue in the third person form. Step 4. Post-reading 1. Work in pairs to talk about the pictures on P15. e.g. The girl’s hobby is reading. She is very good at it. She can read fast. 2. Choose two pictures to write them down. 3. Finish the listening exercise on P16 Arouse Students’ interest and guide them to the topic: abilities. Students look at the picture and guess what they might learn from the picture. Some did the homework well, but some didn’t do it well, I thought maybe the exercise about the tenses was a little difficult for them. In class, I find that the students haven’t mastered all of the words and key sentence patterns in this Module. They have a good shape in class. It’s a good lesson.
