A
(2024·武汉市高三模拟)Schaumburg District 54,a school district in Schaumburg,IL,has implemented a happiness curriculum.A key component of the curriculum is gratitude, where students develop four habits that take up just 21 minutes each day through exercises and learn to be thankful for not what they may want, but what makes them happy right now.And the four happiness habits are listed.
Two minutes of emailing
Write a twominute maximum email each day praising or thanking a different person in your life. Not only do you often receive positive emails back, but this habit significantly increases your social connection, which is the greatest predictor of longterm happiness and is also as predictive of how long you will live as obesity or high blood pressure.
Fifteen minutes of movement
Fifteen minutes of movement each day can be the equal of taking an antidepressant, and acts as a gateway drug because people who do this start adding on entire groups of positive habits.
Two minutes of meditation (冥想)
Two minutes of meditation—simply watching your breath go in and out—improves accuracy on tasks by 10 percent, significantly reduces stress, improves sleep and raises engagement scores.
Two minutes of journal
Two minutes of journal about a positive, meaningful experience each day can significantly decrease pain symptoms and stress and increase the amount of meaning you feel in your life.Simply think of one meaningful event that happened over the past 24 hours and then on a sheet of paper, write down some details you can remember, which is called “Doubler”.Your brain struggles to tell the difference between visualization and actual experience,so you are doubling a meaningful event each day.

(2024·山西省重点中学高三联考) Since September I've been living in a hall, just a stone's throw from the Thames.Campus is a 25minute walk from my hall, which is across the river and down Fleet Street. There,in The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE),I take courses in social policy, philosophy and public policy, public management and behavioural economics.
In the first few weeks we covered how to measure wellbeing, how to distribute health care resources, and the origins of the welfare state,to name only a few.I've had great support from my academic adviser, who I was told is really somebody and highly respected in the field of social policy.
I learn loads of things each day and more importantly, what I learn feels relevant.Looking back,I can better understand the work I did in the government, and how the approaches I've learned work or fail in other situations. After one term,I can feel my viewpoint change from 50 feet to 50,000 feet.
Probably the most difficult part of attending graduate school overseas isn't the education itself but rather the act of “putting the previous life on hold”.I think this is especially true for students who have already started their professional life or are a couple of years older.
But there are plenty of benefits, and I feel that time at LSE passes faster than I realize.Already,I've made friends with students from dozens of other countries, which brings great advantages and fun.Perhaps what unites us is the great British tradition of meeting each other at the end of the week for entertainment at the cafe.In fact,I'm about to make my way there now.
4.What do we know about the author?
A.He lives very close to campus.
B.His major is political science.
C.His adviser enjoys a good reputation.
D.He is studying to a tight schedule.
5.What does the author mean by the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3?
A.He has become farsighted.
B.His mind has been broadened.
C.He can handle various situations.
D.His life attitude varies with time.
6.Which might be the hardest for overseas students?
A.Dealing with the heavy study load.
B.Gaining an understanding of British traditions.
C.Being used to the local educational system.
D.Leaving one's former life behind temporarily.
7.What message about the author is implied in the last paragraph?
A.He is going to join a gettogether for fun.
B.He decides to go after his professional life.
C.He wants to make friends with more students.
D.He has a deep preference for British traditions.

Famous for its tolerance (宽容) as well as its narrow houses and broad canals (运河),Amsterdam is undergoing a change of attitude when it comes to the millions of tourists that come to see it each year.Tolerance has reached its limits in the capital of Dutch, which is now actively urging visitors to head elsewhere.
Ellen van Loon,a partner at Dutch architectural firm OMA says,“We don't want to turn into a Venice. While tourism earns the Dutch economy around 82 billion Euros a year, the problem we are currently facing is that Amsterdam is so loved by tourists,we just have so many coming to the city.”
Netherlands tourist officials recently took the decision to stop advertising the country as a tourist destination.Their “Perspective 2030” report, published earlier this year, stated that the focus will now be on “destination management” rather than “destination promoting”.The document also describes the country's future strategy, acknowledging that Amsterdam's livability will be severely influenced by “visitor overload” if action isn't taken.
Solutions (解决办法) listed include working to discourage groups of visitors by either limiting or completely shutting down accommodation and entertainment products aimed at them,as well as spreading visitors to other parts of the Netherlands. Some of these measures have already come into play.Last year, the famous “I Amsterdam” sign was removed from outside the Rijksmuseum, the city's main art gallery. The twometer high letters have been moved to various “lesserknown neighborhoods” in order to entice travelers to leave the center of the city.
But will the measures being put in place be enough to save it from being damaged by its own success?Like many other locals, van Loon fears Amsterdam has lost its uniqueness forever.“The reason tourists come here is that there's something in the character of Amsterdam they love,” she explains.“But at a certain point, when the number of tourists is increasing and increasing, they actually kill what they loved in the first place.”
8.What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 indicate?
A.Amsterdam doesn't necessarily copy Venice.
B.Venice does more poorly than Amsterdam.
C.Amsterdam is more popular than Venice.
D.Venice is suffering from overtourism.
9.Why did Amsterdam advise visitors to head elsewhere?
A.To avoid much spending on city management.
B.To turn the focus on destination promoting.
C.To promote the development of other areas.
D.To reduce its pressure of mass visitors.
10.What does the underlined word “entice” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Promise. B.Persuade.
C.Inform. D.Allow.
11.What's van Loon's attitude to the measure?
A.Skeptical. B.Intolerant.
C.Ambiguous. D.Positive.

Life continually requires that we write down a few words of thanks: for holidays, meals, presents or people's place in our hearts. However, too often, our messages end up flat or somewhat unconvincing. To make our messages more effective,we might take a lesson from the history of art.
To some extent, what distinguishes great from common art is the level of detail with which the world has been studied.A talented artist is,first and foremost, someone who takes us into the specifics of the reasons why an experience or a place felt valuable. They don't merely tell us that spring is “nice”,they zero in on the particular contributing factors to this niceness: leaves that have the softness of a newborn's hands, the contrast between a warm sun and a sharp breeze, the soft cry of baby blackbirds...
Some of the reason why great artists are rare is that our minds are not well set up to understand why we feel as we do.But we can be confident if our minds have been affected, the reasons why they've been so will be somewhere, waiting to be uncovered. We stand to realize that it wasn't so much that the food was “delicious”,but that the potatoes in particular had a charming rosemary and garlic flavour.A friend wasn't just “nice”;they brought in a hugely sensitive and generous tone to ask us what it had been like for us when we suffered. The details will be there, waiting for us to catch them.
We don't have to be great artists to send effective thankyou notes. We just need to locate and hold on tightly to two or three highly detailed reasons for our gratitude.
12.What can we infer from Paragraph 1?
A.We seldom express gratitude by writing.
B.We usually find messages of thanks touching.
C.We should take a course in message writing.
D.We may draw inspiration for thankyous from arts.
13.What does the underlined phrase “zero in on” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Leave out. B.Clear up.
C.Focus on. D.Hold back.
14.How is Paragraph 3 developed?
A.By classification. B.By example.
C.By definition. D.By process.
15.Which would the author recommend to express gratitude?
A.I am blessed to have such a wonderful week.
B.Your caring and warm smile lights up my day.
C.Thank you so much for your great present.
D.This is the most delicious dinner I've ever had.
(2024·贵州省适应性测试)Are you afraid of expressing ideas or making negative comments? Do you always say yes to seek shelter or want approval from others? 16 You probably tend to satisfy other people's needs ahead of your own.In the long run,it will have a side effect on your life. It'll take some time for you to adjust, and it's time to know how.
•Say “no” effectively.
It might take some practice, but let people know when you can't do what they want.If a flat “no” seems difficult to you, show your understanding for the person and his or her needs. 17
•Set your priorities.
18 It helps you choose what to say yes to and what to decline. If you feel trapped in a decision, write a list of your demands (or options) and place them in order of what's most important to you.
• 19
There's nothing wrong with voicing your opinions.Simply reminding people that you're an individual with your own preference is a big step forward. If you tend to please people by going along with other people instead of voicing your likes or dislikes, speak out.
•Take care of yourself.
Ignoring your needs can be a sign of a lack of selflove.Looking after yourself and taking care of your body isn't selfish. 20 Eat healthy meals, exercise regularly, and do things that make your body feel good.
A.Develop your preference.
B.Speak up for what you want.
C.Spare some time each day for your health.
D.If you agree to help someone, set a time limit.
E.If yes,you may be classified as a people pleaser.
F.Place the most important at the top of the schedule.
G.Still, you need to be firm in saying that you cannot help them.

根据第三段中的“Looking back,I can better understand the work I did in the government...50,000 feet.”
根据最后一段中的“Perhaps what unites us is...I'm about to make my way there now.” 故选A。

根据第一段中的“To make our messages more effective,we might take a lesson from the history of art.”
故“zero in on”应是“专注于”。
根据最后一段最后一句“We just need to locate and hold on tightly to two or three highly detailed reasons for our gratitude.”
