Unit 3 Seasons 单元话题阅读理解练习 (23-24七年级上·广东深圳·期末)In many places on Earth the weather changes during the year. These changes are called seasons. Spring Spring starts when the day and night are of the same length. The weather gets warmer and sunnier. Trees and plants start to grow. Many animals have their babies in spring. Summer Summer begins on the longest day of the year. In the north this is on 21 June. Summer is usually the warmest and sunniest time of the year. Fruit grows on trees and plants. Young animals grow bigger and stronger. Autumn Autumn starts when the day and night are of the same length again. During autumn, the leaves change colour and fall from the trees. Some animals collect food before winter comes. Winter Winter begins on the shortest day of the year. In the north this is on 21 December. The weather is colder and in some places there is lots of snow. Plants and trees stop growing. Some animals, like snakes and bears, find places to hide and sleep. This is called hibernation. Fun facts ●When it is summer in the north, it is winter in the south. ●At the North and South Pole there are only two seasons. ●In tropical (热带的) places near the Earth’s equator (赤道) there are two seasons: a ‘wet’ season and a ‘dry’ season. 1.June 21 is the longest day of the year in Sandy’s hometown, where is Sandy from? They influence (影响) health, IQ (智力) and feelings (心情). In the southern part of the United States, it is very hot at sometime and very cold at other time. People in those places often catch a cold when the weather changes in February or March. The weather can also influence IQ. For example, a very strong wind can help people have higher IQ. However, very hot weather can make it lower. Students in many schools of the United States often get lower scores (分数) in exams in the hot months of the year (July and August). Weather also has a strong influence on people’s feelings. Winter may be a bad time for thin people. They usually feel cold and unhappy during these months. But fat people may have a hard time in hot summer. Do you feel like you have a cold? Do you think you are not smart? Do you feel sad today? It may be the weather’s problem. 6.When do people in the south of the US often catch a cold? A.When the weather is cold. B.When the weather is hot. C.When the weather changes. D.When the weather is cool. 7.What can we know from paragraph 3 and 4? A.Students like taking exams in July and August. B.Students get lower scores when the weather is hot. B.To let us know the importance of weather. C.To ask us to study in hot weather. D.To show how weather can influence us. (21-22七年级上·广东广州·期中)Different kinds of weather make people feel different. They influence(影响) health, intelligence(智力) and feelings. In the southern part of the United States, it is very hot at sometime and very cold at other time. People in those places have more heart trouble and other kinds of health problems after the weather changes in February or March. The weather can also influence intelligence. For example, in the report of 1983 by scientists, IQ(智商) of a group of students is very high when a very strong wind comes, but after the strong wind, their IQ is 10% lower. The wind can help people have more intelligence. Very hot weather, on the other hand, can make it lower. Students in many schools of the United States often get worse scores(分数) in exams in the hot months of the year(July and August). Weather also has a strong influence on people’s feelings. Winter may be a bad time for thin people. They usually feel cold and unhappy during these months. But fat people may have a hard time in hot summer. Low air pressure(气压) may make people forgetful(健忘的). Scientists say people leave more bags on buses and in shops on low-pressure days. People feel best at a temperature of about 18℃. Are you feeling sad, tired, forgetful or unhappy today? It may be the weather’s problem. 11.In the southern part of the United States, people have more heart trouble in February or March because ________. A.the weather is fine B.the weather is hot C.the weather is cold D.the weather changes 12.Students in many schools of the United States will get a worse score if they take an exam in ________. D.Weather influences health, intelligence and feelings. (21-22七年级上·广东深圳·期末)Dear Mary, Today was my first day in England and I learned something interesting about the weather here. There is no difference between summer and winter. Why is this? Britain has a warm winter and a cool summer because it is an island country. In winter the sea is warmer than the land. The winds from the sea bring warm air to Britain. In summer the sea is cooler than the land. The winds from the sea bring cool air to Britain. The winds from the west blow over Britain all year. They blow from the southwest across the Atlantic Ocean(大西洋). They are wet winds. They bring rain to Britain all year, so Britain has a lot of rainy weather. The west of Britain is wetter than the east. The winds must blow across the high land in the west. 21.What’s the weather like in Britain? A.It’s neither too hot nor too cold. B.It’s too hot. C.It’s very bad. D.We don’t know. 22.When do the winds bring cool air to Britain? A.In spring. B.In summer. C.In autumn. D.In winter. 23.Which of the following is right? What are the four seasons’ colours? Different people have different ideas. Here is my idea about the colours of four seasons. I think the colour of spring is green. When spring comes, trees begin to bud and the grass begins to grow. It is really a green world, and green is also the colour of hope. What about summer? When I look at flowers of almost all kinds, I know that the colour of summer is red, a colour full of energy. Autumn has a different colour, especially(尤其) in the north of our country. Gold is the colour of this season. The rice in the fields and fruits on the trees are the symbols(象征) of autumn. It is the season of ripeness(成熟) and harvest. Winter is the world of snow. So, white is the colour of winter. What is your idea about the colours of four seasons? Could you tell me? 25.What does the writer think of people’s ideas about colours of four seasons? A.Friendly. B.Happy. C.Not the same. D.Boring. 26.What does the underlined word “bud” mean? A.Grow new leaves. B.Stop growing. C.Have new fruit. D.Turn old. 27.What is the colour of hope? A.Green. B.Red. C.Gold. D.White. 28.When we see a lot of fruits on the trees, it may be in ________. A.the fields B.Autumn C.Winter D.Spring 29.What does the writer mainly tell us? A.Four seasons. B.Spring is green. C.Different seasons have different colours. D.Winter is white. (22-23七年级上·广东深圳·期末)Many places in our world are becoming hotter and the weather is becoming more surprising. More and more ice is melting (融化) at the North Pole and South Pole of our Earth. Unluckily, we may not be able to stop these changes. Why? Because the weather of our Earth is so difficult to control (控制)! I will tell you something about our world’s surprising weather: one Roman man wrote about frogs raining from the sky almost 2,000 years ago. Can this really happen? Yes, it can! What’s more, fish and other small animals can also “rain”. They sometimes happen when a storm (暴风雨) brings very strong winds. The winds blow over the surface of oceans or lakes. Small frogs and fish aren’t very heavy, so the winds take them to the sky and then they come back down with the rain. The frog rain isn’t new in many places. In 2005, people in Serbia walked outside their homes after a storm and couldn’t believe their eyes. Hundreds of frogs were trying to jump back to water. If you’re interested to see what “frog rain”, looks like, you can go to watch the 1999 movie Magnolia. Bad weather may cause many problems to people’s lives. It’s not easy to control the weather. However, everyone should do something to protect our Earth. 30.How does the writer make us know the surprising weather well? A.By answering some questions. B.By making a study. C.By using some numbers. D.By giving us some examples. 31.Why does the writer write the second paragraph? A.To tell us that only frogs can “rain”. B.To tell us about a kind of strange weather. C.To ask us to protect frogs and other animals. D.To tell us something about the danger near the sea. 32.How did people in Serbia feel when they walked out of the door? A.Happy. B.Tired. C.Angry. D.Surprised. 33.What’s the purpose (目的) of the passage? A.To make us love science. B.To let us care about animals. C.To ask us to protect our Earth. D.To ask us to watch Magnolia. 34.Where may the passage be from? A.A storybook. B.A cartoon book. C.A geography magazine. D.A travel magazine.
