When I was in Grade Eight, our physics (物理) teacher gave us a challenge to make a paper plane of any shape. The only goal (目的) was to get it to fly as far as possible. I had many paper-folding skills, so I made the best plane I could, and it flew pretty far.
One boy made the simplest paper plane. He stood there at the starting line with a normal piece of flat (平的) paper. Several minutes later, he took the piece of paper and made it into a ball, then threw it down the hallway. We were so shocked at what he did. We never expected things to happen like that. He beat all of us easily.
Some of the students got angry and said that he cheated.
The physics teacher said, “How so? He doesn’t do anything wrong because a paper ball is a shape, too. I like his idea.”
Yes, the boy didn’t cheat. He just finished the task (任务) in a different way. In our life, what we have learned turns into our experience. We do everything according to it. However, our experience gets in the way of our development sometimes. It stops us from coming up with new ideas, and it is bad for our creativity. So it is really necessary for us to learn to think outside of our experience. Then we may discover more and easier ways so that we can have a better result. Just like the boy in the story, we should think creatively.

25. The underlined word “It” in Paragraph 5 refers to (指代) “_______”.

26. What does the passage mainly tell us?

B. Don’t do things according to our experience.
C. It’s important for us to learn others’ experience.
D. We should learn to think outside of our experience.

Did you hear of ChatGPT? It is a language model chatbot (聊天机器人). It appeared in November, 2022. To people’s surprise, the number of its users (使用者) grew to more than one million just in one week!

Should people use ChatGPT for scientific study or school homework? Yin Peixin, a student from Hubei says, “ChatGPT can help us learn and study better, but I don’t think we should depend on it too much, or we’ll learn nothing. And the robot doesn’t have any new or creative (创造性的) ideas. It’s necessary for us to keep learning and never stop exploring the world around us.”

【答案】例文
Reading Has Helped Me Grow
I used to be a shy girl in the past. I didn’t like to talk to others. My world was small. However, things have changed now. I am more brave and outgoing than before. I enjoy meeting new people. I have made many new friends.
What made this change? It was reading. I started reading books when I was young. Now I really fell in love with it. As I read more and more, I found that books opened up a whole new world for me. I could travel to different places, meet interesting characters, and learn about different cultures. Reading also helped me understand my own feelings better and understand the world better.
Now, reading is a big part of my life. They have made me more interested in books. I’m glad I found the joy of reading and reading has helped me grow.
