(2)How do you feel about your new school life? (3)Which one do you think attract you most---the new friends and teachers, the activities in school or the new curriculum? Pre-reading: 介绍略读这一阅读技巧,引导学生运用略读技巧阅读课文。 Reading strategy: Skim You can find main ideas by first taking a quick look at the title, picture(s), key words and phrases, and topic sentences. 带领学生略读文章标题、图片和第一自然段,快速判断文章文体,预测主要内容,并找到第一自然段的中心句。并根据中心句概括出第一段的主要内容:Senior high school is a challenge. While-reading: 1. 独立阅读2-4自然段,运用略读技巧快速找到每段中心句。 2. 运用问题链引导学生根据内容分析作者写作的逻辑思路,找到段落之间的内在联系。 (1) Analyze the content of each paragraph, can you find out the relationship of them? (2) What do you think the function of the first paragraph? (3) Can you use a mind map to show their relationship? 3. 运用树形图总结概括文章篇章结构,展示作者的写作思路。 4.学生再次阅读文章,查找文章细节信息,并将所有细节通过思维导图的形式进行呈现。 (1) What are the specific challenges that Adam faced? (2) What methods did Adam use to solve these problems? (3) Can you use a mind map to show the logic that the author use to write Para2, Para3 and Para4? 5.学生查找细节信息并回答问题, 进一步分析主人公Adam的心情变化。 (1) Why did Adam have to think carefully about which courses he wanted to take? (2) Why did Adam have to choose extra-curricular activities? Why was he unable to join the football team? (3) Why will Adam have to study harder as a senior high school student? 6.通过以上细节分析,根据事实推断主人公Adam所具备的良好品质,引导学生树立对待挑战的积极态度和正确的人生观。 Judging from Adam's feelings and his solution to the challenges, what kind of person do you think Adam is? Why? Post-reading: 7. 启发学生根据文章内容,联系实际自身实际生活,讨论自己所面临的挑战及其解决办法。 (1) Do you face the same challenges as Adam? (2) What other challenges are you facing? (3) How do you deal with them? 8. 根据课文学习和讨论结果,对比中国高中生生活和Adam的高中生活之间的异同,分析国内外学校生活的异同。 Summary: In this lesson, you have: 1. worked out the main idea and mapped the structure of the text; 2. found out Adam’s challenges as a freshman; 3. compared the school life of yours and Adam’s; 4. listed your own challenges. 4、 作业 Ask your parents or grandparents about the challenges they met and how they felt and dealt with them when they were teenagers. Then, compare their high school lives with yours and write down what you hear and your won though about it with 100 words. Try to collect the ways that teenagers usually use to deal with problems in their life. You may ask your classmates, your friends or surf the Internet.
