Hello, everyone! Welcome to the beautiful Jiuzhaigou Valley in Sichuan Province, China. Today, we’ll explore this amazing place, filled with natural beauty and fascinating stories.
Jiuzhaigou, meaning “Nine Village Valley”, is known for its beautiful blue-green lakes, multi-level waterfalls, and colorful forests. It’s as if Mother Nature decided to use all her colors at once! The scenery here is so breathtaking that it feels like you’re walking through a living painting.
One of the most magical spots is Five-Flower Lake. The water in this lake is so clear and bright that it looks as if it’s been photoshopped. According to legend, a goddess dropped her mirror here, and its broken pieces turned into this brilliant, colorful lake. So, if you ever lose a mirror, just hope it results in something as beautiful as this!
As we wander through the valley, you’ll hear the calming sounds of waterfalls. Nuorilang Waterfall is one of the most famous and is said to be the widest highland waterfall in China. There’s a local story that these falls are actually the tears of a mountain spirit who cried with joy when she saw the beauty of Jiuzhaigou for the first time. Talk about being moved to tears!
Another fun spot is Panda Lake. It’s said that pandas love this area because of the abundance of bamboo. While the pandas are a bit shy and might not show up for photos, you can always imagine them relaxing somewhere nearby, having a bamboo snack. If you see some missing pieces of bamboo, just know a happy panda was there!
Thank you for joining me on this fun tour of Jiuzhaigou Valley. I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about its natural wonders and fascinating stories. Remember, nature has the best stories, and sometimes they come with a good laugh. Enjoy the rest of your magical adventure here in Jiuzhaigou!

When I was forced to put up with my son’s sense of humor, which included turning every word he read into jokes about his family members, the search was on. Could I, as the supportive and patient parent I try to be, find the right book for my son? A book that encourages him to toll a joke without making us want to wash his mouth out with soap? I had to admit I wasn’t confident.
Now, I have a book, Jake the Fake Keeps It Real, at hand. In fact, Jake is not a perfect kid. The first book in the series, Jake the Fake Keeps It Real, opens with Jake explaining how he cheated to gain admission to an arts and music academy for gifted kids.
So when Jake realizes that to fit in at art school, he has to come up with some strange ideas, I almost died laughing. Not only did I think it was funny, my son did too. In fact, Jake the Fake Keeps It Real turned out to be a great distraction (使人分心的事物) from my son’s disrespectfully funny behavior. And I would much rather have my son imitate Jake by chewing (咀嚼) the same piece of gum for six hours and then writing a play about it.
I succeeded in one thing: finding a fittingly funny role model for my son.
At the end of the book, in chapter 13, Jake, who has no talent, has to perform in the school talent show (obviously, if you blow it, you have to quit school and work on a fishing boat). Jake sits down at the piano but knows he can’t do it, so he stands up from the piano.
Here’s where the book really wins my son’s heart for life. Maybe one day, my son might say, as Jake does after his mother praises his talent show appearance and hugs him tightly, “She’s pretty cool sometimes, my mom.”

44. What’s the possible result of Jake?
A He would be a good fisherman. B. He would devote himself to music.
C. He might be punished for his mistake. D. He would win an award.
45. What is the author’s intention in writing the passage?
A. To introduce a book briefly. B. To share a parenting experience.
C. To promote arts education. D. To find a book for a funny child.
C
The moment the alarm goes off in the morning, the battle between children and parents begins. “Pack your bag quickly!” “Have you gathered all your books?” “Hurry up or you will be late!” The sounds of anxiety and impatience keep ringing in our cars. It’s fair to say that being too slow to pack a schoolbag or forgetting books is a common problem for primary and secondary school students. To solve this issue, we invented a smart schoolbag called “Zhi An Qi”, which means “intelligent, reassuring and complete”. It’s equipped with powerful functions.
We wanted to make our schoolbag easy to use. With a click, it can automatically display which books are inside and which ones are missing according to your daily schedule.
To scan several books at a time, we researched available technologies. However, we found that these technologies didn’t meet our needs. Disappointed, we went to a library to explore more options. What the librarian was doing interested us. Using a machine to scan a cart of books, he could see the returned books on the computer right away. After looking through the Internet, we soon discovered what he was using: radio frequency identification (RFTD, 射频识别). This technology provided the solution that could work for our schoolbag. We quickly made a plan and distributed the tasks. Some members began programming with MicroPython, while others created the circuit (电路) using a universal board (通用插件板). With our combined efforts, we designed the basic functions of the smart schoolbag and successfully applied for a patent (专利).
Creating just a model didn’t satisfy us. What we wanted was to turn it into a real product. To this end we began commercial operations, such as writing a business plan and contacting producers. In the next stage, we will continue to upgrade the scan panel, making it removable and presenting it as a scanning accessory (附件).
“Of course, the process was quite difficult, as it was our first time developing a product,” said one teams member. “But if you stay determined, you will find that all the storms will pass, and eventually all the efforts will bring you victory.”
46. What does the author intend to do in Paragraph 1?
A. Stress the importance of being organized.
B. Introduce the topic of a smart schoolbag.
C. Highlight the problem of packing up a schoolbag.
D. Complain about anxiety and impatience from parents.
47. Where did the team get their inspiration according to Paragraph 3?
A. The popular bags. B. The existing AI technology.
C. The librarian’s scanning technology. D. The roar of anxiety and impatience.
48. What does the author plan to do in the future?
A. Contact manufacturers with a business plan.
B. Apply for a patent and make a more satisfied model.
C. Update the panel into a removable scanning accessory.
D. Improve the panel to make it more advanced and independent.
49. What is probably the author’s attitude toward the development of the new schoolbag?
A. Worried. B. Unconcerned. C. Uncertain. D. Positive.
50. What could be the best title for the passage?
A. Smart Schoolbag B. Efficient Packing
C. The Challenges of Invention D. Technology in Education

Jake was a young software developer living in a busy city. Despite his success at work, he felt unsatisfied and often questioned the purpose of his efforts.
One evening, feeling particularly lost, he decided to take a break and visit a small coastal town where his old friend, Sam, lived. Upon arriving, eke was struck by the town’s calmness. Sam greeted him warmly and suggested they take a hike to a nearby lighthouse. The path was tough, but Sam assured Jake that the view from the top was worth it.
As they climbed, Jake voiced his doubts. “Sam, I’ve been working hard, but I feel stuck. What’s the point?” Sam paused and looked at the path ahead. “Life isn’t always easy, Jake. Sometimes it feels like we’re making no progress, but every step counts, even the hard ones.” Their conversation was interrupted when they reached a particularly rocky section. Jake fell, hurting his knee. Frustrated, he almost gave up and suggested turning back. He felt a mix of anger and disappointment, thinking all his effort was for nothing. But Sam extended a hand, helping him to his feet. “Life’s challenges can knock us down, but we learn and grow by facing them.” Finally, after much effort, they reached the lighthouse. The view was amazing—the vast ocean stretched endlessly, with the setting sun casting golden colors over the water. Jake felt a deep sense of peace and accomplishment. Sam turned to him and said, “See this view, Jake? It shows the big picture of life. The tough journey was worth it. Your work is the same—each challenge and effort leads to something greater.” Jake nodded, realizing his struggles had value.
As they walked back, Jake felt a renewed sense of purpose. He now understood that meaning comes from the journey, not the destination. With this new perspective, he felt ready to face life’s challenges with hope and determination.

41. How did the author find her son’s humour?
A. Suitable. B. Boring. C. Interesting. D. Impolite.
42. Who is Jake?
A. A gifted kid. B. The author’s son.
C. A character in a novel . D. An honest boy.
43. What does the underlined word “imitate” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Copy. B. Defeat. C. Ignore. D. Entertain.
44. What’s the possible result of Jake?
A. He would be a good fisherman. B. He would devote himself to music.
C. He might be punished for his mistake. D. He would win an award.
45. What is the author’s intention in writing the passage?
A. To introduce a book briefly. B. To share a parenting experience.
C. To promote arts education. D. To find a book for a funny child.

To this end, we began commercial operations, such as writing a business plan and contacting producers.

It’s equipped with powerful functions.( 可以说,装书包太慢或忘记带书是中小学生的通病。为了解决这个问题,我们发明了一种智能书包“知安齐”,意思是“智能、安心、齐全”。它配备了强大的功能)”、第三段“Using a machine to scan a cart of books, he could see the returned books on the computer right away. This technology provided the solution that could work for our schoolbag.( 使用一台机器扫描一车书,他可以立即在电脑上看到归还的书籍。通过浏览互联网,我们很快发现了他正在使用的技术:射频识别。这项技术为我们书包的问题提供了解决方案)”以及最后一段““Of course, the process was quite difficult, as it was our first time developing a product,” said one teams member. “But if you stay determined, you will find that all the storms will pass, and eventually all the efforts will bring you victory.”(“当然,过程相当困难,因为这是我们第一次开发产品,”一位团队成员说。“但是如果你保持坚定,你就会发现所有的风暴都会过去,最终所有的努力都会带给你胜利。”)”可知,文章主要介绍了一款名为“Zhi An Qi”的智能书包的研发过程及其功能特点,因此A项“Smart Schoolbag(智能书包)”作为标题最为贴切。故选A项。

第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下列短文并回答问题。
