China's high-speed trains already stand out in the world. The country is now breaking its own speed record with CR450.
The CR450 can travel at 400 kilometers per hour(km/h) on average(平均). Its highest speed is 453km/h. Before this, the fastest high-speed train in the world was China's CR400, which runs at 350km/h on average.
“The key is not to make the train run fast but to have it brake(刹车) well,” Zhao Hongwei of the China Academy of Railway Sciences told CCTV News.
The CR450 has the same braking distance as the CR400. This distance is 6,500 meters. Although the CR450 travels faster, it can start braking more quickly. It takes only 1.7 second s to start braking, while the CR400 takes 2.3 seconds.
The engineers also did lots of tests with the brakes to make the system(系统) better. In the tests, the brake disc(制动盘) got really hot, reaching temperatures of up to 700℃. Its color changed from black to red. The changes were then recorded. The engineers put all the data(数据) into the system. Then, the system could make calculations(计算) to make the brakes even better.
The CR450 can make people's lives easier. Once put into use, for example, the CR450 will shorten(缩短) the travel time from Beijing to Shanghai. It now takes at least four and a half hours to travel between the two cities, but with CR450, it will only take two and a half hours. Also, the CR450 has the same noise level as the CR400.
58. What does the phrase “stand out” mean in Paragraph 1?
A. Something raises discussion. B. Something happens.
C. Something is better than others. D. Something is in trouble.
59. According to Zhao Hongwei, what is “the key” to CR450?
A. Running fast. B. Braking well.
C. Having shorter braking distance. D. Starting to brake in a shorter time.
60. The braking time of the CR450 is ________ than that of the CR400.
A. 1.7 seconds faster B. 0.6 seconds slower
C. 2.3 seconds slower D. 0.6 seconds faster
61. What is Paragraph 5 mainly about?
A. What engineers did to make the brake system better.
B. How engineers collected data and did calculations.
C. How engineers cooled down the brake disc in a test.
D. The differences between the CR400 and the CR450.
62. What is the best title for the text?
