Unit 6 I’m Watching TV Teaching Objectives: 1. Knowledge Objectives: (1) Be able to read and recognize new words: newspaper, use, soup, etc. (2) Be able to master grammar: the use of the present progressive tense. 2. Ability Objectives: (1) Be able to know and are able to use the sentence structure skillfully: What are you doing? I’m watching TV. (2) Be able to use what you have learned to describe what people are doing. 3. Emotional Objectives: Students can develop a strong interest in learning English, good at discovering what is happening in life, positive thinking, helpful, willing to participate in various activities of positive emotions. Key and Difficult Points: 1. Key Points: (1) The collocation of words and phrases and the usage of the present progressive tense can accurately describe and express the action taking place in various forms of the present progressive tense. (2) Be able to apply the present progressive tense and some collocations of specific actions: doing homework, using the computer, watching TV, eating, etc. 2. Difficult Points: The structure and pronunciation of the present participle in the present progressive tense, can accurately use the present progressive tense to describe or express the action in communication. Major Steps: Step1. Lead-in Teacher asks a question: What’s your favorite activity? The teacher asks questions to let the students enter the class state, plays the video to activate the class, let the students feel the learning content of this class. Step2. Presentation 1. Teacher shows some pictures on the PPT, presents the new words and expressions. 2. Teacher asks the students to match the numbers with the pictures in 1a. 3. Teacher chooses several groups of students, each group has two people to play the You Do I Guess game. 4. Teacher plays the recording for the students twice in 1b. Students listen to the recording and write the numbers from 1a. Step3. Practice and production Teacher chooses 2 students to read the conversations in 1c with a partner. Then look at the pictures in 1a and make conversations by themselves. Students make conversations by themselves and practice the conversations. Step4. Summary and Homework) 1. Summary. Teacher takes the students to review the new words and the expressions in the present progressive tense. 2.
