Researchers at the University of Michigan have been exploring the possibilities of AI in understanding what our furry friends are trying to communicate through their barks (吠). Their new AI tool can tell playful barks from aggressive (挑衅的) ones, as well as identifying a dog’s age, sex and so on, based on their sounds. The AI model, called Wav2Vec2, was originally designed to recognize human speech patterns. This model is excellent at identifying tones, pitches, and accents in human voices, so the researchers made use of it to analyze dog barks.
