Section A(1a-2d) Type of text Listening and speaking lesson Duration of teaching 45 minutes Text analysis The teaching core of this unit is "describing people's appearance", involving language items such as discussing people's height, weight, hairstyle, facial features and clothes. The content of the textbook focuses on describing people's physical characteristics, so that students can learn to talk about people's height, weight, hairstyle, facial features and dress characteristics. Taking people's physical characteristics as the main line, taking into account the study of communicative functions, and using a step-by-step life-oriented learning procedure, students can learn to introduce their own or other people's physical characteristics in English. These contents are closely related to students' real life and are easy to trigger students to use simple English for communication and exchange. Learner analysis Grade 7 students are about 13-14 years old. They still have enough interest and curiosity in learning foreign languages. After more than a year of study, they have developed two very good learning habits, being able to prepare, practice and review autonomously, and listening to the teacher's arrangement, many learning tasks can be implemented, which will promote the improvement of students' English performance. He/she isn’t tall or short. 2.Ability objective ①Students can use these new word and new sentence patterns to describe the people. ②Students can improve their listening and speaking skills. 3.Emotional objective: ①Learn to observe and describe the people around them, understand each other and enhance friendship. ②Let them understand and comprehend the truth that don't judge people by their looks.Learn to appreciate others. Students can understand the importance describing people’s looks and understand the content of this class. 3 minutes (class work, individual work) Pre-listening Step1 These pictures are to understand the new words more intuitively, and to prepare for the following listening, so as to reduce the difficulty of listening. The game can stimulate students’ interest. 1.Show some pictures and teach students to the new words:curly, straight, tall, heavy,build... and lead students to read. 2.Introduce the usage of be /have / wear:Am/is/are and adjectives describing height and physique; Have /has is used with nouns describing hair, face shape, facial features, etc. The verb "wear" is used to describe glasses, accessories, clothes, etc. 3.Play a game about the usage of be/have/has/wear.(True or False) Students can understand new words and knowledge points . 5 minutes (class work, individual work) Step2 Practice words and sentence patterns.
