This lesson is from Unit 7 of PEP English Go for it, the second semester of Grade Seven. The topic of this unit is about weather.
Section B (3a-3c) is the writing part of this unit.
It’s a new and fun experience for students to write a postcard, some of them may have done it before, but it may be the first time for them to do it in class and also in English. Students have learned how to describe weather and people’s activities in Section A, so it won’t be a big challenge for them to write a post card.

After the learning of Section A, students now can describe the weather and people’s activities in the way they were taught. The writing part of this unit is designed to enhance and solid the knowledge, and to prepare them for the further study of writing.

2. How to write a postcard:
①Summarize the three elements of writing a postcard: (greeting, closing and the main part) and the four elements of vacation (location, weather, activities, and feelings).
②Review 2b and ask students to find more expressions of each element.
③Show students the standards of a good writing: correct grammar, good hand-writing, different sentences.
Group work:
Ask students to discuss the detail information in groups and write postcards.
1. Use the multi-media to present students’ postcards.
2. Evaluate the writing according to the three standards of a good writing.
3. Give students feedback.

1. Watch the video and pay attention to the activities Kate is doing in the video.
