Let the Ss look at 1a, and then play the tape. Ss listen and repeat the numbers. Can you read these numbers? Q-T-R-nine-eight-zero-eight-nine Room six-one-two-eight What’s this? It’s a telephone. 2. Listen to the tape and write down the telephone number on your books. (Play the tape for the Ss.) Group work 1. Divide the Ss into groups. Each group has four students. 2. Now please work with your group and ask each other questions about phone numbers. Listening 1. Tell Ss to listen to the tape and match the names with the telephone numbers. 2. Point to the blanks in the four telephone numbers. Tell the Ss that the last two numbers of each telephone number are missing. Listen to the tape and then fill in these numbers. 3. Check the answers. 4. Listen to the tape carefully and complete the conversation. Pair work A:What's ... telephone number? Speak up What’s your first name (given name) and last name (family name)? Work on 2a. 1) Point out the sample answers: the L for last name next to Smith, and F for first name next to Jack. Then have students finish the exercise on their own. 2) Read the list of names in the exercise. Ask students to guess which names are first names and which are last names. 3) How to call(称呼) someone politely? For friends and classmates, we can call their first names directly. For teachers and elders, it’s polite to use the title and the last names. Reading 1. Read the messages. Then match them with the pictures. 2. Circle the first names and underline the last names. Check the answers. 3. Work on 2c. Tell the students to match the names with the telephone numbers. What’s your telephone number, Li Xin? 李新，你的电话号码是多少？ What’s one’s telephone number? 某人的电话号码是多少？答语用“It’s…”或“One’s telephone number is…”，也可直接回答电话号码。 3. It’s 281-9176. 它是281-9176。 电话号码的读法与写法，在英美等国家，人们通常用“-”将一个座机电话号码分为两部分，如果号码是七位数，常在前三位和后四位之间加连字符号；如果号码是八位数，通常可以四个数字一组来读。在朗读时，按照顺序读出数字，0大多读作字母o的发音，但作为单个数字时，则往往读作zero。 4. What’s your first name? 你的名字叫什么？ first adj. 第一 adv. 最先；最早 其反义词是last, 最后的，末尾的 first name 名字 相当于given name。询问某人的名字时常用句型What’s one’s first/ given name?，回答时只须说出名，而不用说出姓。 5. What’s your last name?你的姓氏是什么？ last adj.最后的；末尾的 adv.最后；上次 last v.持续 后常接时间段 last name 姓；姓氏 相当于family name 询问某人的姓氏时常用句型What’s one’s last/ family name?,回答时只须说出姓，而不用说出名。 6. My name is Jenny Green. 我的名字叫珍妮•格林。 英文姓名的写法：Jenny Green是一个英文姓名。英文姓名的写法与中文姓名的写法不同，通常是名在前，姓在后。 7.
