I loved the excitement I would feel when we went to watch these events, especially when the scores were close until the very end of the game. My meaningful attempt at sports began with T-ball at the age of three, progressed to the basketball court at six, and finally turned into a firm devotion to the game of baseball from the age of eight onward. One of my most memorable moments was at the World Series when I was eleven and played on the Texas Rattlers. The July heat was unbearable. It was the semi-final game. Sweating like a pig, we ran into the dugout for our last at-bat (上场击球); we were down one run now. I was the second hitter and captain of the team, and I was ready for this moment. In the next few seconds, I had the chance to show my strength as a hitter and my ability to be a leader under pressure by hitting a home run! We carried the day! As the team captain, I remember the time I had to give a speech to my team because we had lost an important game. I was nervous, but I knew it was my responsibility to cheer my team up when they were cast down. This experience has shaped my mind, making me become more independent, so I’m obtaining the ability to talk like a leader in front of my team and a group. Sports get it through my head that you can’t win at everything in life all the time. On and of the field, I am more iron-willed, disciplined (遵守纪律的) and respectful, and a better leader. I have had so many awesome experiences through sports, which have taught me much and prepared me for the future. The memories of all the trips and diverse experiences I have had will be with me for a lifetime. 4. What can we learn about the author from the first paragraph? A. He often switched sports. B. He was a gifted child in sports. C. He had a busy childhood. D. He was fond of sports from childhood. 5. How did the author feel during the semi-final at the World Series? A. Stressed and tired. B. Proud and confident. C. Unbearable and down. D. Surprised and energetic. 6. What was tough for the author according to paragraph 3? A. Leading his team to face failure. B. Giving a speech before the team. C. Improving his leadership qualities. D. Overcoming his own nervousness. 7. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Interesting Life of Sports B. Life Lessons from Sports C. Deep Affection for Sports D. Special Moments in Sports C Childhood can bring a lot of awe (敬畏). Research also suggests that awe is important in promoting well-being beyond our individual lives — it can encourage our children to care for others. A recent study by researchers Eftychia Stamkou, Keltner, and their colleagues invited children aged 8-13 to take part in an experiment. In the awe group, children were offered a short part of a movie that features a child transformed into a seal (海豹) and exploring the sea while in the joy group, children were offered a short part of another movie where friends were celebrating. Researchers measured children’s kindness toward poor families by inviting children to support their food drive by spending as much time as they wanted in counting donated things, to make sure the poor got access to the donated food as quickly as possible. They also invited children to donate the reward they earned from taking part in the research (e.g., a snack or a museum ticket) to a poor family. The results? Children who watched the awe-inspiring video spent more time counting food donations and donated their rewards to poor families more often compared to the children who watched the joy-inspiring video. These findings highlight that awe-inspiring art can motivate children to be sympathetic toward people who have been forcibly displaced (离开家园) from their countries of origin. As parents, we can also seek out everyday experiences of awe in our communities to share with our children, like wall paintings of the city scenery and folk art. Awe can be inspired by music, like the harmonious sounds of a wooden guitar and the beat of a drum. Awesome architecture, like symphony halls, museums, and even features like staircases, can be a way to experience awe with our children. 8. What does the research find? A. Awe should be inspired early. B. Awe helps kids be more generous. C. Individual lives affect kids’ health. D. Training awe gives kids excitement. 9. What do we know about the children in the experiment? A. They watched different movies. B. They commented on the videos. C. They were asked some questions. D. They donated money to poor families. 10. Why did the awe group support the food drive more? A. They learned this from a video. B. They were motivated by the movie. C. They liked to contribute to charity. D. They were reminded by the homeless. 11. What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph? A. Give reasons for feeling awe. B. List experiences of awe. C. Show benefits of awe to kids. D. Appeal for developing awe in kids. D As the climate continues to get warmer, the glaciers (冰川) are melting and the sea levels are rising. As it affects the land, mountains are taller than before. How does this happen? Scientists studied the last ice age, which occurred 16,000 years ago when much of Earth’s Northern Hemisphere was covered in ice. Although the ice melted long ago, Earth’s crust (地壳) is still rising and sinking in reaction to its previous ice age burden. This movement is called glacial isostatic adjustment Scientists believe that an ice sheet about 800 meters thick could cause a depression (洼地) about 275 meters deep, according to the Smithsonian Magazine. “As the ice sheets began to melt around 11,700 years ago, the glaciers cleared large and heavy masses, allowing the mountains to rise up,” US geologist Mike Kaplan told the Columbia Climate Scehool website. Recent studies suggest that land in southeast Alaska is rising at a rate of about 3centimeters per year. Families living on the coast welcome this “new” land, according to The New York Times. However, they soon find themselves in a trap. As the land uplifts and coastal areas move away from the sea, rivers can dry up more easily, making it harder for them to reach the sea. This could result in a reduction in water resources, affecting animals and creatures living in the rivers. Researchers are concerned that this may make a challenge to fishermen, as raising fish in these areas could become more difficult. While the depression of Earth’s crust springs back slowly, once uplifted areas are sinking. For example, a 2015 study suggests that the Chesapeake Bay on the eastern coast of the US could sink more than 15 centimeters by 2100. This sinking trend also suggests that these areas may experience more significant impacts from a rise in sea levels. 12. What can we learn about glacial isostatie adjustment? A. It mainly happened during the last ice age. B. It causes the ice sheets to melt. C. It becomes a burden of the earth. D It affects the land’s height above sea level. 13. How do the local people probably feel according to paragraph 4? A. Concerned. B. Surprised. C. Annoyed. D. Puzzled. 14. What challenge might the Chesapeake Bay face in the future? A. More serious sea pollution. B. Lower sea level. C. Increased coastal flooding. D. Rapid land uplift. 15. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A. Climate Change Is Causing Higher Sea Level B. Melting Glaciers Are Making Mountains Taller C. Global Warming Is Affecting Ecosystem D. Glacial Melting Is Picking Up Speed How to Develop a Good Personality There isn’t such a thing as having an objectively good personality. I worked hard to earn exceptional marks and always tried to behave well. I was younger than everyone else because my good marks had allowed me to skip second grade, but this added nothing to my already low self-confidence. When I was 14, my parents divorced (离婚). I moved in with my dad in a new neighborhood, but he was always so busy and had little time for me. It seemed the only time he ever spoke to me was to be demanding or critical. I began to hate coming home from school every day. I sank further into my low self-esteem (自尊心) and was overwhelmed with feeling unappreciated and alone. One day, my aunt called. This seemed like a miracle (奇迹) to me. Aunt Ginette usually only called once a year, on my birthday. She said she had just seen some young teenagers participate in a public speaking contest, and she thought I should try it, too. She told me she firmly believed I could perform on stage like the other kids since she had seen me do skits (幽默小品) for the family at Christmas. I was a little surprised. Me? Onstage? In a public speaking contest? I was hesitant. But Aunt Ginette was so confident and seemed really serious. Feeling her strong belief, I went against all odds and agreed to enter the contest. All that winter, twice a week after dinner, I took three different buses for the three-hour round-trip to practice in Ville d’Anjou, where the competition would take place. Although my dad really did love me and wanted the best for me, he disapproved of this new dream, fearing it would take away from my homework time and impact my academic performance. But I remained a top performer in school and never missed a day. Four months later, the big night arrived. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When I saw my father’s face, his eyes were shining-he was so proud. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力1~5 CABAC 6~10 BAACC 11~15 ABCCA 16~20 BCBBA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2024年上学期高一联考英语试题 考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. 根据第二段中“One of my most memorable moments was at the World Series when I was eleven and played on the Texas Rattlers. 根据第三段“As the team captain, I remember the time I had to give a speech to my team because we had lost an important game. 故选A。 B。 C Childhood can bring a lot of awe (敬畏). B 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第一段中的“Research also suggests that awe is important in promoting well-being beyond our individual lives — it can encourage our children to care for others.(研究还表明,敬畏在促进我们个人生活之外的幸福方面也很重要——它可以鼓励我们的孩子去关心别人)”可知,研究表明敬畏可以激励孩子们去关爱他人,再结合第四段中提到的实验“Children who watched the awe-inspiring video spent more time counting food donations and donated their rewards to poor families more often compared to the children who watched the joy-inspiring video.(与观看欢乐视频的孩子相比,观看令人敬畏的视频的孩子花了更多的时间计算食物捐赠,并更频繁地向贫困家庭捐赠奖励)”可推知,敬畏帮助孩子们变得更加慷慨。 根据第二段中的“In the awe group, children were offered a short part of a movie that features a child transformed into a seal (海豹) and exploring the sea while in the joy group, children were offered a short part of another movie where friends were celebrating.(在敬畏组,孩子们观看了一个孩子变成海豹探索海洋的电影的一小段,而在欢乐组,孩子们观看了另一个朋友们正在庆祝的电影的一小段)”可知,参与实验的孩子们被分成了两组,观看不同的电影片段(一组观看的是关于孩子变成海豹飞越城市的片段,另一组观看的是朋友们庆祝的片段)。故选A。 根据第一段中的“it can encourage our children to care for others(它可以鼓励我们的孩子去关心别人)”及第四段中的“These findings highlight that awe-inspiring art can motivate children to be sympathetic toward people who have been forcibly displaced (离开家园) from their countries of origin.( 这些发现强调,令人敬畏的艺术可以激发孩子们对那些被迫离开原籍国的人的同情)”可推知,这些孩子之所以更多地支持食品义卖活动,是因为他们受到让人敬畏的视频的影响,对贫困家庭产生了同情。 根据最后一段内容“As parents, we can also seek out everyday experiences of awe in our communities to share with our children, like wall paintings of the city scenery and folk art. Awe can be inspired by music, like the harmonious sounds of a wooden guitar and the beat of a drum. Awesome architecture, like symphony halls, museums, and even features like staircases, can be a way to experience awe with our children.(作为父母,我们也可以在我们的社区中寻找日常的敬畏体验,与我们的孩子分享,比如城市风景的壁画和民间艺术。 D。 D As the climate continues to get warmer, the glaciers (冰川) are melting and the sea levels are rising. D. It affects the land’s height above sea level. Glacial Melting Is Picking Up Speed 【答案】12. D 13. A 14. C 15. 根据第二段中“Although the ice melted long ago, Earth’s crust (地壳) is still rising and sinking in reaction to its previous ice age burden. This movement is called glacial isostatic adjustment 根据第四段中“Researchers are concerned that this may make a challenge to fishermen, as raising fish in these areas could become more difficult.(研究人员担心,这可能会给渔民带来挑战,因为在这些地区养鱼可能会变得更加困难)”可知,渔民养鱼可能会变得更加困难,由此推知当地人可能会感到担心,故选A。 根据最后一段中“For example, a 2015 study suggests that the Chesapeake Bay on the eastern coast of the US could sink more than 15 centimeters by 2100. This sinking trend also suggests that these areas may experience more significant impacts from a rise in sea levels.(例如,2015年的一项研究表明,到2100年,美国东海岸的切萨皮克湾可能会下沉15厘米以上。 根据全文内容,结合第一段“As the climate continues to get warmer, the glaciers (冰川) are melting and the sea levels are rising. As it affects the land, mountains are taller than before. How does this happen?(随着气候持续变暖,冰川正在融化,海平面正在上升。 How to Develop a Good Personality There isn’t such a thing as having an objectively good personality. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Four months later, the big night arrived. Waiting anxiously alongside the other competitors, I couldn’t keep from trembling. Taking a deep breath, I tried my best to control my emotions, murmuring to myself, “You can do it!” Finally, it was my turn. I adjusted my clothes, confidently rose to my feet and strode (大步走) onto the stage. I stood there and firmly began my speech, which I had practiced hundreds of times. Words smoothly flew out of my mouth like a beautiful melody, and it was then that I spotted my father in the audience. When I saw my father’s face, his eyes were shining-he was so proud. Somehow, I gained energy from his expression and finished the speech smoothly. Sitting by my dad, I waited for the result and the previous tightness was replaced by a sense of relief. Dad gently patted my shoulder, saying, “Well done,” and gave me a big hug. “I now realize how wrong I was to criticize you all the time. I should have appreciated you more.” Hearing this, tears welled up in my eyes, blurring the surroundings. It turned out I got the first prize and we cheered happily. Since then, I have looked at the world with brand-new confidence, heading toward my bright future. 词汇激活行为类 ①低语:murmur/whisper ②认出:spot/identify ③获得:gain/get/acquire 情绪类 ①不安地:anxiously/restlessly ②高兴地:happily/gladly 【点睛】[高分句型1] I stood there and firmly began my speech, which I had practiced hundreds of times.(由运用了which引导的非限制定语从句) [高分句型2]I now realize how wrong I was to criticize you all the time. (由关how引导的宾语从句) [高分句型3]Hearing this, tears welled up in my eyes, blurring the surroundings.(由现在分词作状语) 听力1~5 CABAC 6~10 BAACC 11~15 ABCCA 16~20 BCBBA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
