Interact with real dancers, dance to the rhythm, and witness the perfect transition from the virtual to the real—all in the spirit of a charming Parisian ball. making it so special(既是观众又是明星,开始一段90分钟的旅程,其中35分钟在一个奇幻的虚拟世界中。 根据“Falling”部分的“Ready the tissues for the heart-tugging Falling—where ordinary meets extraordinary in the disorderly world. Tami and Bill fit into the ups and downs of parenting their children: Lisa, an anxious teenager, and Josh, an autistic (自闭症的)18-year-old.Don't miss the sorrowful tale that explores the highs, lows, and everything in between of a misunderstood and resilient 不要错过这个悲伤的故事,它探索了一个被误解却具有适应力的家庭的喜悦、低谷和一切之间的故事)”以及“Secondary: The Musical”部分的“Follow the hilarious and heartwarming journey of Lilin, a young teacher, and her resilient teenagers Ming, Omar, and Reyansh as they deal with exams, challenges, and the search for recognition(跟随年轻教师丽琳以及她那些坚韧的青少年学生明、奥马尔和雷扬什的欢乐而温馨的旅程,他们将面对考试、挑战以及对认可的追求)”可知,Falling和Secondary: The Musical都是关于青少年生活的故事,因此它们的共同点是它们都是关于青少年的生活。故选B。 B An old, wise man who grew sicker felt his journey on Earth was coming to an end. However, his son was still a young man and had yet to reach his full potential. And so the father took it upon himself to teach his son the ways of the world. The old man handed the young man a watch, a family heirloom (传家宝) passed down for generations. “Ask the jeweler how much it's worth. But don't accept any offer. Instead, come back home with the watch.” The boy did as he was instructed. The jeweler said it was only worth $ 100 as he'd have a hard time finding a buyer. “Okay,” the father said. “Then take the watch to the pawnshop (当铺). See how much you can get for the watch.” In his mind, the boy disagreed. But he didn't want to argue with his father in poor health so he did the job anyway. He even went above and beyond to see two friends working in pawnshops only to be told the watch had scratches, which even he didn't notice after carrying it all day. The father paused for a moment and said, “I want you to go to the museum this time. There's a woman I want you to talk to. I sense this person will know better what this watch is really worth.” After meeting his father's friend, he ran back home to tell his old man the good news, “You won't believe it! We finally got an amazing offer. She said she never thought she'd see one in person. The museum would like to buy it for $35.000! I haven't realized I was holding on to something that valuable.” His dad said. “What's more important to me is that you learned something about value and self-worth. You see — just like that watch — you too have value. And if you go to the wrong places, you'll never know just how much value you have. Even your own friends can get it wrong. But there's always a place you can go to where everyone will see your real value.” 4 Why was the boy told his watch was scratched? A. He was too careless. B. He wasn't taken seriously. C. He might not get a proper price. D. His friends were not the shopowner. 5. How did he feel after the trip to the museum? A. Defeated. B. Calm. C. Angry. D. Excited. 6. What was the old man like? A. Patient and wise. B. Determined but stubborn. C. Generous but strict. D. Thoughtful but demanding. 7. What can we learn from the story? A. Don't put the cart before the horse. B. Don't judge something from its appearance. C. Believe in yourself until someone discovers your value. D. Whatever you don't like done to yourself, don't do it to others. C 5. D 6. A 7. 根据文章第三段““Then take the watch to the pawnshop (当铺). See how much you can get for the watch.” In his mind, the boy disagreed. But he didn't want to argue with his father in poor health so he did the job anyway. He even went above and beyond to see two friends working in pawnshops only to be told the watch had scratches, which even he didn't notice after carrying it all day. 根据文章第五段“After meeting his father's friend, he ran back home to tell his old man the good news, “You won't believe it! We finally got an amazing offer. She said she never thought she'd see one in person. The museum would like to buy it for $35.000! I haven't realized I was holding on to something that valuable.”(在见到他父亲的朋友后,他跑回家告诉他老爸这个好消息:“你简直不会相信!我们终于得到了一个惊人的报价。她说她从未想过会亲眼见到一件。博物馆愿意出价35000美元购买它!我还没意识到我手里握着的东西这么有价值。”)”可知,男孩去博物馆之后感到很兴奋。故选D项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“The old man handed the young man a watch, a family heirloom(传家宝) passed down for generations. “Ask the jeweler how much it's worth. But don't accept any offer. Instead, come back home with the watch.” 、第三段““Okay,” the father said. “Then take the watch to the pawnshop (当铺)( “好吧,”父亲说。“那就把手表拿到当铺去。”)”、第四段“I want you to go to the museum this time(我这次想让你去博物馆)”以及最后一段“What's more important to me is that you learned something about value and self-worth(对我来说更重要的是,你学到了关于价值和自我价值的东西)”可知,老人为了让儿子懂得价值和自我价值,很耐心地让儿子去不同的地方了解手表的价格,可推理出老人是很有耐心的。根据最后一段“But there's always a place you can go to where everyone will see your real value. (但总有一个你可以去的地方,在那里每个人都会看到你真正的价值。)”可以推断出,这个老人是智慧的。故选A项。 根据文章最后一段“But there's always a place you can go to where everyone will see your real value. (但总有一个你可以去的地方,在那里每个人都会看到你真正的价值。)”可知,我们从这个故事中学到的是相信自己,直到有人发现你的价值。故选C项。 C When you think of the most innovative (创新的) organisations, chances are that your mind will immediately go to Apple, Google, or perhaps OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT that is leading the AI revolution. But there is one other organisation doing exceptional work: Transport for London (TfL), a tube constantly testing out new technologies for London's transportation experience. Willesden Green, a suburban station in North West London was just transformed into a“smart”station. What TfL did was take the CCTV (闭路电视) cameras and plug them into an AI image recognition system — which turned what previously had been ordinary video recordings into intelligent cameras, capable of identifying what was happening inside the station. TfL is at the cutting edge and significantly eased the workload of Tube staff. For example, the system detected fallen passengers, warning staff via iPads to assist them. It also spotted people standing too close to the platform edge, reminding staff of potential danger. For irresponsible behavior, staff could make announcements. The cameras also identified wheelchair users and those waiting too long, allowing staff to offer assistance. TfL's forward-thinking approach in embracing technology is praiseworthy, improving public safety and providing a more smooth travel experience in London. The highlight of this system is its ability to detect unwanted behavior. The AI cameras are designed to identify potential threats like knives, guns, and ticket barrier violators(违反者). However, I'm particularly impressed with how it recognizes “aggressive behavior”. This is hard to do, because describing to a computer what that looks like is tricky. Instead, TfL programmed the system to warn staff if anyone in the station raises both of their arms at the same time, as this is a gesture often connected with threatening behavior. However, it isn't without controversy (争议) — it does cause uncomfortableness from a civil liberties. The problem with AI identifying images means that it could just as easily spot flags or political symbols, for example. And you can imagine how it could be used to closely monitor staff in an unpleasant way. 8. Why are Apple, Google, and OpenAI mentioned in paragraph 1? A. To compare their strengths. B. To stress the tube's innovation. C. To show the popularity of the tube. D. To share the travel experience. 9. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A. How popular AI is becoming in Tfl. B. What AI does to detect passengers in Tfl. C. How AI reduces work burden in Tfl. D. Why AI is influencing TIL so much. 10. What does the underlined word “tricky” in Paragraph 4 mean? A. Challenging. B. Easy. C. Unachievable. D. Perfect. 11. What is the best title of the passage? A. Is it worthy to apply AI to TfL? B. AI does more good than harm. C. TIL is becoming safer and safer. D. TЛL is smarter with AI. B 9. C 10. A 11. 根据第一段“When you think of the most innovative (创新的) organisations, chances are that your mind will immediately go to Apple, Google, or perhaps OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT that is leading the AI revolution. But there is one other organisation doing exceptional work: Transport for London (TfL), a tube constantly testing out new technologies for London's transportation experience.(当你想到最具创新性的组织时,你可能会立刻想到苹果、谷歌,或者可能是ChatGPT背后的公司OpenAI,它正在引领人工智能革命。但还有一家组织也在做着杰出的工作:伦敦交通局(TfL),一个不断测试新技术以改善伦敦交通体验的地铁系统。)”可知,第一段提到苹果、谷歌和OpenAI是为了强调地铁的创新。故选B项。 【9题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第三段“TfL is at the cutting edge and significantly eased the workload of Tube staff. TfL's forward-thinking approach in embracing technology is praiseworthy, improving public safety and providing a more smooth travel experience in London.(TfL处于领先地位,大大减轻了地铁工作人员的工作量。 根据第四段“However, I'm particularly impressed with how it recognizes “aggressive behavior”. This is hard to do, because describing to a computer what that looks like is…. Instead, TfL programmed the system to warn staff if anyone in the station raises both of their arms at the same time, as this is a gesture often connected with threatening behavior.(然而,我特别印象深刻的是它是如何识别“攻击性行为”的。这很难做到,因为向计算机描述这种行为的样子是……。相反,TfL对系统进行了编程,如果车站里有人同时举起双臂,就会警告工作人员,因为这通常是一种与威胁行为相关的姿势。)”可推知,此处表示向计算机描述这种行为的样子是有挑战性的,即划线词意为“有挑战性的”。故选A项。 根据第一段“But there is one other organisation doing exceptional work: Transport for London (TfL), a tube constantly testing out new technologies for London's transportation experience.(但还有一家组织也在做着杰出的工作:伦敦交通局(TfL),一个不断测试新技术以改善伦敦交通体验的地铁系统。)” L is smarter with AI(有了AI,伦敦交通局变得更智能)”适合用作本文标题。故选D项。 D How much we enjoy music may partly come down to our genetic (基因的) make-up, according to a study of thousands of twins. The pleasure people get from a tune is connected to its effects on our emotional responses and ability to form social connections. The degree of enjoyment differs from person to person, but little is known about why. To investigate the role of genetics, Bignardi, a sycholinguistic expert and his colleagues looked at more than 9000 twins in the research. About 3400 were identical(相同的) and 5600 non-identical. The former share the same genome(基因组), while non-identical twins share only half their genomes, as is the case with any non-twin biological siblings. All the twins in the study, between 37 and 64 years, were raised in the same households and so had similar environments while growing up. This made it easier to sort out genetic contributions. The researchers first got the twins to complete the Barcelona Music Reward Questionnaire, which focuses on how much pleasure they get from music. The team then analysed the relative contributions of genetics and environment to musical enjoyment among the twins. This showed that genetics seems to play a great role in influencing how much pleasure music brings, with the identical twins being more than twice as similar in this characteristic as the non-identical ones. Bignardi and his team also tested the participants' abilities to pick up between different melodies, rhythms and tones, with previous research linking genetics to musical ability. They found that the influence genetics has on enjoying music isn't necessarily linked to musical talent. The study is inspiring, says Peter at the University of Cambridge. “It's evident that musical ability might have a genetic basis; it accounts for why some people seem to possess a gift for music that enables them to develop amazing skills from a young age. ” However, it is less obvious that the degree of pleasure from listening to music is influenced by genes, so it is interesting the study finds this effect, he says. The results add a new piece to the puzzle of why music has such a powerful effect on certain people and open up new possibilities for using inter-individual differences to understand the biology of a key aspect of human behavior, as the research shows. 12. What was the main purpose of the study of thousands of twins? A. To assess the twins' musical abilities. B. To test the Barcelona Music Reward Questionnaire. C. To understand the influence of genetics on musical pleasure. D. To compare identical and non-identical twins’ environments. 13. Why are twins raised from the same environment chosen in the research? A. To figure out the contributions of genetics. B. To show the bond of gene and environment. C. To analyze genetic effect in musical abilities. D. To introduce the background of the research. 14. What's Peter's attitude to the research? A. Negative. B. Positive. C. Doubtful. D. Worried. 15. Which aspect of the research can we learn from the last paragraph? A. Its applications. B. Its conclusions. C. Its limitations. D. Its importance. C 13. A 14. B 15. 根据第一段“How much we enjoy music may partly come down to our genetic (基因的) make-up, according to a study of thousands of twins(我们对音乐的喜好程度可能部分归因于我们的基因构成,这是根据对成千上万对双胞胎的一项研究所得出的结论)”以及第二段“To investigate the role of genetics, Bignardi, a psycholinguistic expert and his colleagues looked at more than 9000 twins in the research(为了研究遗传学的作用,心理语言学专家Bignardi及其同事在这项研究中观察了9000多对双胞胎)”可知,研究的主旨是为了理解遗传对音乐愉悦感的影响。 根据第二段“All the twins in the study, between 37 and 64 years, were raised in the same households and so had similar environments while growing up. This made it easier to sort out genetic contributions(研究中的所有双胞胎,年龄在37至64岁之间,都在相同的家庭环境中长大,因此在成长过程中拥有相似的环境。这使得区分遗传因素变得更加容易)”可知,选择在相同环境中长大的双胞胎的目的是为了弄清楚遗传学的贡献。故选A。 根据倒数第二段“The study is inspiring, says Peter at the University of Cambridge. “It's evident that musical ability might have a genetic basis; it accounts for why some people seem to possess a gift for music that enables them to develop amazing skills from a young age. ” However, it is less obvious that the degree of pleasure from listening to music is influenced by genes, so it is interesting the study finds this effect, he says.( 剑桥大学的彼得说,这项研究令人振奋。“很明显,音乐能力可能有遗传基础;这解释了为什么有些人似乎拥有音乐天赋,使他们能够从小就培养出惊人的技能。”然而,从听音乐中获得的愉悦程度受基因影响这一点不那么明显,所以这项研究发现这种效应很有趣,他说)”可知,Peter对这项研究持积极态度。故选B。 【15题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“The results add a new piece to the puzzle of why music has such a powerful effect on certain people and open up new possibilities for using inter-individual differences to understand the biology of a key aspect of human behavior, as the research shows(研究结果表明,音乐对某些人产生强烈影响的原因又增加了一个新的线索,并为利用个体间的差异来理解人类行为的一个关键方面的生物学开辟了新的可能性)”可知,这一段讨论了研究的应用前景。故选A。 Want to look forward to your workouts instead of counting down the minutes for them to be over? 故选A。 【17题详解】 根据上文“Find a like-minded partner and your exercise will be that much easier. Getting outside is a cure, which can heal, release stress, bring joy, and restore your spirits. Getting sunlight, which contains vitamin D, is also a good mood booster.(抑郁症可能与与自然世界的分离有关。 Wanted: Violin. Only two tickets to the big basketball game. Three pairs of eyes all focused on the tickets. Marcus, the oldest, asked, “Only two tickets? But, Dad, which of us gets to go with you?” “Yeah, Daddy, who gets to go?” repeated Caleb, the youngest. “Dad, can't you get any more tickets?” I begged. I might be the in-between sister, but I was just as eager as my basketball-crazy brothers for a night out with Dad. “I'm afraid not,” Dad answered. “Mr. Williams only has two tickets. He was thoughtful enough to offer the tickets to me when he found out he'd be out of town this weekend.” Dad scratched (挠) his head,“Caleb, don't you think you're too young to enjoy---?”“Am not! Am not!”Caleb insisted. Dad turned to me and tried again. “Jill, since you're a girl...”Before I could respond, Mom came to my defense, “Jill's out there practicing with Marcus and his friends, and she's better than quite a few of them, too!” “Okay, okay,” Dad smiled. “I'll have to figure out a fair way of choosing between the three of you. I'll have to decide who deserves it most.” The next morning, Marcus hurried into the kitchen. “Where's Dad?”he asked as he reached for a glass of milk. “He and Mom went to pick up books from the library,”Caleb answered, digging his spoon into cereal(麦片). “And he said we should all get started on our Saturday household chores on finishing breakfast,” I added. “Chores! He's kidding. How can we concentrate on chores when the big game is only 8 hours away?” With this, they dashed out. I looked at the mess: milk tins. bits of cereal, drops of grape jelly... I thought to myself, “It looks like chores start right here.” Doing the chores, I heard the basketball bouncing (弹跳) off the driveway. Clearly, Marcus practiced shooting the basketball while Caleb cheered him on. Frustrated, I knocked on the window three times. The boys looked towards me. “Okay, we're coming in to help. Just one more minute,” my brothers chorused. Paragraph 1: I was throwing the rubbish bag when an envelope caught my attention. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: I held up the ticket, smiling at them, “It might be a little too late for that.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 I was throwing the rubbish bag when an envelope caught my attention. Curiosity piqued, I opened it and found Dad's name on the back. Inside were two additional tickets to the game! My heart leaped with excitement. This unexpected find meant no one had to miss out on the game. I quickly finished tidying up the kitchen and rushed out to share the good news with my brothers. They stopped their practice, their faces a mixture of disbelief and joy as I waved the tickets in the air. I held up the ticket, smiling at them, “It might be a little too late for that.” The boys looked at me in confusion, but their expressions quickly turned to elation as I explained the situation. Dad had unknowingly tucked away the extra tickets, perhaps as a backup plan or simply an oversight. Regardless, it was a pleasant surprise for all of us. But there's always a place you can go to where everyone will see your real value.” 4. Why was the boy told his watch was scratched? C When you think of the most innovative (创新的) organisations, chances are that your mind will immediately go to Apple, Google, or perhaps OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT that is leading the AI revolution. D How much we enjoy music may partly come down to our genetic (基因的) make-up, according to a study of thousands of twins. The study is inspiring says Peter at the University of Cambridge. Want to look forward to your workouts instead of counting down the minutes for them to be over? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: I held up the ticket, smiling at them, “It might be a little too late for that.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
