Dear Editor(编辑),
I live in a beautiful city. Many visitors come to my city. There are so many colourful peacocks(孔雀) here. The peacocks mostly live on the grass of Dongfeng Square. They are given food freely by visitors. The visitors usually throw food to them without thinking about at all whether the food is right or not. Some of the peacocks became ill, and some even died after eating the bad food given by the visitors. I'm sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds, but they don't realise(意识到) that they may be doing them harm(伤害).
The visitors should be told what they have done is very harmful to the birds, and this kind of thing must be stopped.
Perhaps we can build some small shops beside Dongfeng Square to sell peacock food. For us, it's our duty to give more love to these beautiful birds and to look after them carefully.
Yours,
Sun Yan

Passage J
Sometimes I doubt(怀疑) if there is love between my parents. Every day they are busy trying to make money for my schooling. They don't act in any ways that I read in books or I see on TV. For them, “I love you” is too difficult to say. I never heard it. Even sending flowers to each other on some special days is never seen.
One day, my mother was sewing a quilt (缝被子). I sat beside her.
“Mum, is there love between you and Dad?” I asked in a very low voice.
With surprise in her eyes, she stopped her work for a short time. Then she said, “Susan, look at this thread(线). You can't find it easily, but it's really there. It makes the quilt strong. If life is a quilt, love should be a thread. Love is inside.”
I began to understand what my mother said after something special happened the next spring. At that time,____▲____.My mother had to stay with him in the hospital for a month.
After they were back, my mother helped my father walk slowly on the country road every day. They were very kind to each other and I could feel they were the happiest husband and wife. “Dad, how are you feeling now?” I asked him one day.
“Susan, don't worry about me,” he said. “I just like walking with your mum. I like this kind of life.” Reading his eyes, I knew he loved my mother deeply.

Passage L
If you go into the forest with your friends, stay with them. If you don't, you may get lost. If you get lost, this is what you should do.
Sit down and stay where you are. Don't try to find your friends—let them find you. You can help them find you by staying in one place. There is another way to help your friends or other people to find you. You can shout or whistle(吹口哨) three times. Stop. Then shout or whistle three times again. Any signal(信号) given three times is a call for help.
Keep shouting or whistling. Always three times together. When people hear you, they will know that you are not just making a noise for fun. They will let you know that they have heard your signal. They will give you two shouts or two whistles. When a signal is given twice, it is an answer to a call for help.
If you don't think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little house with branches(树枝). Make yourself a bed with leaves and grass.
When you need some water, you have to leave your little house to look for it. Pick__up__small__branches__and__drop(丢)__them__when__you__walk.__Then__you__can__go__back__again__easily. When you are lost, the most important thing is to stay in one place.
