Ⅰ.阅读理解
A
(成都高一期末)I grew up with the same group of kids from age 5 to age 12. We lived in the same community, shared the same schools and experienced all the ups and downs of that period.
Then I hit junior high and a whole new world opened up to me. It seemed that everyone was there, friends from football teams and people from the summer workshop. They welcomed me, figuring that I had to be cool to know so many people. I was a different person with each new group of friends and began to distance myself from the “kindergarten group”.
However, it wasn’t long before these so-called new friends left me when they found out I really wasn’t cool enough to be there. This was one of the hardest times in my life. I felt alone and was very disappointed in myself. It was then, when I thought I had nowhere else to go, that I tried to make my way back into the “kindergarten group”. I organized a camp-out and invited them to come. I had thought they were going to be cold and exclude me as I had done to them. But they all turned up and we just picked up right where we left off. There was absolutely no hate, only comfort and an unexpected sense of belonging. They gave me room to grow and learn my own lessons, my own way, in my own time.
From them, I have learned two things: the type of friends I want, and the type of friend I want to be. We will all continue to grow separately together, all the while providing the unconditional love, understanding and support only friends like these are capable of.

Being a student, especially an international one, means having a lot of friends in different countries. So, for us, it is quite common to maintain(维持)friendships by electronic communications. I never believed in Internet friendship. Yes, I met people online. I had one very good friend from a forum(论坛); we were talking and then we just disappeared from each other’s lives. So I never thought that an Internet friend might be truly real.
Recently, I changed my mind. A few weeks ago I came back from St Petersburg, a city I don’t know at all, except for one girl who changed my understanding of friendship.
I met Dilyara on a FanFiction website. I found one of her stories, and really liked it so I commented(评论)on it. She liked my stories too. Then after a while of just reading them, we decided to exchange real names and started chatting on social media platforms(社交媒体平台).
In just 3 days we knew everything about each other. We just understood each other in seconds; we had the same interests, made the same jokes and shared common opinions and similar situations in our lives. In a week we couldn’t spend one day without texting each other. We were sending each other gifts and letters on birthdays, New Year, and other holidays. She helped me a lot on my bad days and I was also there for her. Although we have thousands of kilometres between us, it is the strongest friendship I have ever had.
Internet friendship is something really good. Victoria Lebed, a student from London, tells me she also believes in Internet friendship. She actually has a few online friends she is always happy to talk to. They share what is going on in their lives and give each other advice. But she says, “Yes, you always need to be careful. Don’t send your bank details or share personal information or photos if you are unsure about someone’s identity.”

(湖北新高考联考协作体高一期中)
How to Be More Interesting
When Meeting New People
You might think that being interesting is a talent, or that it means you have to be the“life of the party”. Neither of those things are necessarily true. If you want to leave a good impression, you don’t have to make sure all eyes are on you. 1 .
First, you have to show up.
The first thing you’ll have to do, obviously, is to show up and talk to people. On a recent episode of “The Splendid Table”, author Jessica Hagy said, “You can show up basically as an observer of other interesting people and let that be a learning experience for you, 2 . But the main thing is to show up.”
Second, be a good observer and a great listener.
3 , or you’re the one telling the story that everyone is attracted by. It just means that you leave a good impression on the people you interact with, and in turn, those people had a good conversation with you. Before you start talking, it’s important to just listen, even if you fancy yourself a good storyteller.
Third, 4 .
If you catch yourself struggling to keep a conversation going, or wondering what you should say next, or over-thinking the entire affair and feeling nervous, take a few deep breaths and relax. 5 . Give yourself a little time to clear your head, relax, and head back into the conversation.
A. relax and remember it’s just a good time
B. The first step to that is to listen to people’s stories
C. Here are some tips anyone can use in any social setting
D. Grab a drink or a snack, find somewhere out of the way
E. be prepared to have awkward conversations with strangers
F. or you can show up and be a little bit more of the life of the party
G. Remember, being “interesting” doesn’t mean you left the biggest impression
