B In the summer of 1965, Tété-Michel Kpomassie became the first African to explore Greenland. He was 24 on the day that he stepped onto the port at Qagortoq, on Greenland’s southern coast. But his arctic journey had actually begun some seven years earlier. Kpomassie’s amazing life story starts with a bit of chance and a book. He was a teenager when he bought a book about Greenland in Togo. Immediately, the topic attracted him, and he knew that he must go there. He traveled along the west coast of Africa, eventually crossing into Europe. There, he stayed for some time before leaving for Greenland. “I took my time to step out,” he recalled. “When I arrived, everyone stopped talking; all were staring. They didn’t know if I was a real person or wearing a mask. Children hid behind their mothers. Some cried, believing I was a spirit from the mountains.” Kpomassie found his true home in Greenland’s northern reaches, where the Inuit culture that he’d read in a book as a boy was very much alive. Over the next 18 months, Greenland’s first African learned to ski, ice fish and hunt, and adapted himself quickly to the new environment. He returned to Togo in late 1966 and adapted the journal he’d kept into a book. Kpomassie then went on to give lectures about his experience in halls and classrooms throughout Africa and Europe. And he settled down in Paris and raised a family, returning to Greenland on three occasions in that time. His book An Africa in Greenland was first published in France and has since been translated into eight languages. “All the while I knew where I ultimately needed to end up,” he said. Now approaching 81 years old, Kpomassie is packing up his apartment and heading back to northern Greenland, where he intends to live out his final years. 4. When did Kpomassie begin his first journey to Greenland? A. In the 1940s. B. In the 1950s. C. In the 1960s. D. In the 1970s. 5. What can we infer about people from Para.3? A. They were unfriendly to strangers. B. They didn’t meet a black man before. C. They taught Kpomassie eight languages. D. They were unwilling to let Kpomassie go. 6. Which of the following can best describe Kpomassie? A. Strong and determined. B. Brave and hardworking. C. Kind and ambitious. D Adventurous and adaptable. 7. What’s the text mainly about? A. The unusual experience of an adventurer. B. The opportunities of returning to Greenland. C. The great effect Kpomassie has on literature. D. The meaning of starting an amazing adventure. C Between the 16th and 17th century, the efforts of France’s Jesuits played a key role in the transportation of science and culture between China and the West. Their first mission to reach China dates back to 1552, when St. Francis Xavier arrived on a Chinese island. He died on the island a year later, having never reached the mainland. But three decades later, the Jesuits made a second and successful attempt. During their stay, the Jesuits introduced Western science, mathematics, astronomy, and visual arts to China and took part in philosophical conversations with representatives of Confucianism. Importantly, the Jesuits also took precious art and cultural artworks back to France. Their furniture, architecture and design all became influenced by the Chinese style. At the beginning of the 19th century, the popularity of chinoiserie (中国风格) continued to increase, particularly in England. Many of the architectures were covered with chinoiserie wallpaper relating to flowers, birds and trees. But shortly after, the popularity began to wane. The appeal of China and East Asia had to compete with other tastes, such as Turkish, Egyptian and Greek. The first three decades of the 20th century witnessed a revival (复兴) in the popularity of chinoiserie both in Europe and America. Chinese dragons were drawn on cushions, curtains and wallpaper, while Chinese coats and hairstyles proved popular with women. The style was associated with modernity and was a by-product of World War I. Chinoiserie was associated with wealthy, stylish women and attached itself to the boom in entertainment as people dressed up to visit cinemas. In 2024, chinoiserie is making yet another comeback. The rise of social media and home blog lifestyle pages has seen demand increase for imitations (模仿) of Chinese artwork and furniture. But critics point out how much of it is based on an idea of Chinese art and design and who actually creates it. 8. What happened to the second attempt of France’s Jesuits to China? A. It ended up as a total failure. B. It took the Jesuits 3 decades to finish. C. St. Francis Xavier died on the mainland. D. The Jesuits exchanged with China in many aspects. 9. Which of the following is likely to replace the underlined word“wane”? A. Disappear. B. Increase. C. Reduce. D. Exist. 10. How does the passage develop? A. By making comparisons. B. By providing examples. C. By following the order of time. D. By listing data. 11. In which part of a newspaper can we find the passage? A. Culture. B. Science. C. Art. D. Philosophy. D ChatGPT, a powerful AI chatbot tool, has swept the world in the past months. While it has been dominating social media with its frighteningly good essays, ChatGPT has also caused both excitement and worries in education. According to a US survey of more than 1,000 students, over 89 percent of them had used ChatGPT to help with a homework task. Some students even got high scores thanks to papers written by ChatGPT. Some universities and schools have banned the use of ChatGPT, such as public schools in New York City, CNN reported. The move comes out of growing concerns that the tool could make it easier for students to cheat on schoolwork and be used to spread inaccurate (不精确的) information. “While the tool may be able to provide quick and easy answers to questions, it does not build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential for academic (学术的) and lifelong success,” Jenna Lyle, said in a statement. Apart from strict bans, teachers are redesigning their courses in an attempt to block the use of ChatGPT. Some college professors in the US are now including more oral exams and handwritten papers instead of typed ones, The New York Times reported. However, not all educators are saying “no” to ChatGPT. Some Canadian universities are not planning on banning the tool. Instead, they are working on policies (政策) about its proper usage, for both students and lecturers. Bhaskar Vira, pro-vice-chancellor for education at University of Cambridge in the UK, said that bans on AI software like ChatGPT are not sensible. “I’m of the opinion that we have to recognise that AI is a tool people will use but then adapt our learning, teaching and examination processes so that we can continue to have integrity (诚信) while recognizing the use of the tool,” he told Varsity, the school newspaper of the university. Vira’s opinion on ChatGPT is shared by Peter van der Putten, assistant professor at Leiden University in the Netherlands. “It’s there, just like Google is there. You can write it into your policies for stopping cheating but it’s a reality that the tool exists,” he told Sky News. 12. Why did the author mention the US survey data in Paragraph 2? A. To criticize the use of ChatGPT in education. B. To show the popularity of ChatGPT among students. C. To show the places of using ChatGPT for academic tasks. D. To highlight the negative effects of ChatGPT on academic integrity. 13. What is the concern that led some universities and schools to ban the use of ChatGPT? A. The tool is too expensive. B. The tool is not user-friendly. C. The tool can cause physical harm to students. D. The tool may be used to spread inaccurate information. 14. Why are some educators redesigning their courses? A. To make them more difficult. B. To allow the use of ChatGPT. C. To decrease the workload of students. D. To prevent students from using ChatGPT. 15. What is the opinion of Peter van der Putten on the use of ChatGPT? A. It should be used with proper policies and guidelines. B. It is not a useful tool for students. C. It should be used without limits. D. It should be banned. Running Can Help You Succeed in Life It’s not a secret that the key to achieving something in sports is self-improvement. The doctors assured us that with treatment he would be able to walk normally — but would never run very well. The first three years of his life were spent in surgery, casts and braces. By the time he was eight, you wouldn’t know he had a problem when you saw him walk. The children in our neighborhood ran around as most children do during play, and Joey would jump right in and run and play, too. Although I was a little worried about his state, we never told him that he probably wouldn’t be able to run as well as the other children. So he didn’t know it. Every day after school, he would run and jump crazily, laughing cheerfully with his friends. Before bed, he was delighted to share everything that he enjoyed with me, and the brightness on his face drove away all my anxiety. In his seventh grade, the school planned to hold a cross-country race. On hearing the news, he jumped with joy, and he decided to go out for the cross-country team. What worried me most was the extreme strength and patience that was required for the race. However, his strong determination eventually changed my attitude towards the event. I made up mind to be in favor of him. Every day he trained with the team. He worked harder and ran more than any of the others — perhaps he sensed that the abilities that seemed to come naturally to so many others did not come naturally to him. Although the entire team runs, only the top seven runners have the potential to score points for the school. We didn’t tell him he probably would never make the team, so he didn’t know. One day, he got a fever, and I advised him to have a rest. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Two weeks later, the big day came. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AAABB 6-10 BCCAB 11-15CABCB 16-20 BBACB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 高一年级英语学科增值性评价数据采集 注意事项: 1. 1. 4. A. Culture. B. Science. C. Art. D. Philosophy. 8. D 9. B 13. D 14. D 15. 可知,Vira认为人工智能是人们将会使用的工具,可以调整学习、教学和考试的过程,结合最后一段中的“Vira’s opinion on ChatGPT is shared by Peter van der Putten, assistant professor at Leiden University in the Netherlands. “It’s there, just like Google is there. You can write it into your policies for stopping cheating but it’s a reality that the tool exists,” he told Sky News.(Vira对ChatGPT的看法得到了荷兰莱顿大学助理教授Peter van der Putten的认同。“它就在那里,就像谷歌一样。你可以把它写入停止作弊的政策中,但这个工具确实存在,”他告诉天空新闻。)”可知,Peter van der Putten赞同Bhaskar Vira的观点,人工智能是一种工具,它应该辅以适当的政策和准则一起使用。故选A项。 Running Can Help You Succeed in Life It’s not a secret that the key to achieving something in sports is self-improvement. My son Joey was born with disabled feet. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: One day, he got a fever, and I advised him to have a rest. However, he insisted on going to school as usual. Worried and concerned, I went to look for him after school. On the playground, I found him running all alone, his face pale. On seeing the scene, my tears welled up, and I asked him how he felt. “Okay,” he said breathlessly. “The race is approaching, and I must get well prepared for it!” Beads of sweat streamed down his neck and his face was red, yet he looked straight ahead and kept running. Two weeks later, the big day came. The names of the team runners were announced, and Joey was number six on the list. Joey had made the team. He was in seventh grade — the other six team members were all eighth-graders. When the race began, I cheered him on excitedly and he ran just like an arrow from the bowstring. Before I knew it, he was well ahead of others. It was obvious that he would be the champion. Seeing the bright smile on his face at the end of the track, I knew a lesson that there shouldn’t be any limitation to a heart to succeed. 词汇激活 行为类 ①寻找:look for/search for ②临近:approach/come ③宣布:announce/declare ④跑,冲:run/rush/dash 情绪类 ①担心的:worried/concerned/anxious ②兴奋地:excitedly/with excitement/with thrill 【点睛】[高分句型1] Worried and concerned, I went to look for him after school. (形容词作状语) [高分句型2] It was obvious that he would be the champion. (it作形式主语、that引导主语从句) [高分句型3] Seeing the bright smile on his face at the end of the track, I knew a lesson that there shouldn’t be any limitation to a heart to succeed.
