Aquatic exercise feels easier than exercising on land. Why? You weigh about 90% less in the pool. It is better for your knees than running or walking. Water is about 1000 times thicker and heavier than air. To move through the water, your body has to work for four times as hard. As a result, you can burn more calories (卡路里).
In fact, most people say they feel more relaxed in the water. They stop thinking about the things that make them worried. They feel in control of their bodies. The cool, quiet environment makes their feel good.
But what if you are afraid of the water? No problem! There is nothing to worry about. Aquatic exercise is safe and easy to lean. It doesn’t require any special skills. You don’t even need to know how to swim. Aquatic exercise is for everyone.

Have you ever been angry at someone when you were hungry? If so, you’ve experienced “hangry (饿怒)”—some people get angry easily as they are hungry. The reason for this lies in what happens inside your body when it needs food.
Everything you eat would be changed into different kinds of nutrients (营养物) in your body. These nutrients would enter your blood and be passed to every part of your body and be used for creating energy. As time passes after your last meal, these nutrients in your blood drop. Also, your blood glucose (血糖) drops. Unlike other parts in your body, your brain totally depends on blood glucose to do its job. You’ve probably already noticed that simple things can become difficult when you are hungry and your blood glucose levels drop. You may find it hard to pay attention. For example, you may make silly mistakes in your study and homework. You might also have noticed that you can’t even speak clearly when you’re too hungry.
Another thing that happens when you’re hungry is behaving impolitely and can’t control yourself, such as snapping at others. In that case, even though you may already try your best to avoid conflict (冲突) with important friends, you may still be too angry to control yourself when you are staying with the people you are most relaxed with. That’s why you may find yourself being impatient with your parents or friends.
So what should we do to avoid being hangry? The easiest way is to eat something before you get too hungry. The best choice is to have some nutrient-rich and natural foods that help deal with hunger quickly and can be kept in your body as long as possible, but not fast food. The final way is to suggest that difficult situations should be dealt with after a meal, not before.
8. “Hangry” usually happens when _______.
A the body needs food
B. nutrients enter your body
C. the blood glucose levels drop
9. What does the underlined words “snapping at” probably mean in Paragraph 3?
A. laughing at B. shouting at C. looking at
10. Which of the following is a proper way to deal with ‘“hanger”?
A. Eating something after you get too hungry.
B. Staying with people you are most relaxed with.
C. Dealing with difficult situations after meals.
11. Who is the passage written for?
A. Doctors. B. Parents. C. Students.

In 2003, the female giant panda Ya Ya, who was born in the Beijing Zoo in 2000, and male giant panda Le Le, born in the Shanghai Zoo in 1998, traveled to the Memphis Zoo as part of a giant panda protection and research program between China and the US. Old friends are on the way. News reported that the giant pandas Ya Ya and Le Le would come back to China in December 2022. Sadly, Le Le passed away on February 3rd 2023 instead of returning home.
It’s said that Le Le died because of the poor care he got when he was alive. He lost his weight and appeared to have a toothache that the zoo wasn’t able to treat. Before death his health was getting even worse, but no health care was offered to help him. He was only 24 years old, but pandas can live well for more than 30 years.
Ya Ya, the other panda, also shows her bad condition and sleeps the whole day. Besides she has suffered a lot from the stomach disease for a long time.
Though the zoo wanted to cover its carelessness condition from the public, their poor condition was noticed by visitors’ cameras. Many people point out that one of the worst problems is the low quality and small amount of bamboo. However, the Memphis Zoo didn’t agree with the saying.
Now, we are calling for immediate steps to honor Le Le and make sure of Ya Ya’s safe return. On Thursday afternoon 27th April 2023, Le Le’s body and Ya Ya arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport from Memphis.

Going Green Starts with Small Things
Everyone can make small changes in lifestyle and make a difference to reduce pollution and waste.
First, you’d better ride a bike or walk to school, because it’s a green way which doesn’t pollute the air. Second, saving electricity, water and food is necessary. You should turn off the light when going out. Turning off the tap when you brush your teeth can save a lot of water. What’s more, don’t use plastic bags when you go shopping, plastic is harmful to the environment. Last but not least, we need to plant more trees and flowers to make the environment more beautiful.
