Papercutting, the traditional Chinese art of paper design, has been adopted in many creative arts, including food and clothing. On the Chinese lifestyle-focused social media platform Xiaohongshu, a video of cookies featuring a paper-cut styled dragon pattern received over 2.6 million views and 130,000 likes. Liu Shan, a stay-at-home mother who loves Chinese papercutting, is the baker behind the cookies. Liu started designing her dragon pattern last November and spent five days making the cookies before the Spring Festival. She said she would complete all the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac (生肖) since they are so well-received. Young craftswoman Chen Lingling created a cloak featuring Chinese paper-cut patterns. As an intangible cultural heritage enthusiast, Chen has made a variety of different clothing and headwear, with the aim of making cultural heritage part of young people’s daily lives. She chose auspicious patterns like phoenix and golden fish to deliver her Spring Festival greetings. People believe these patterns will bring good luck. Her video featuring the cloak has received around 750,000 views and earned her fans from both China and abroad, encouraging her to continue her interest in intangible cultural heritage. According to the new report published by Xiaohongshu, users of the platform uploaded nearly one million posts with the topic “recreation” between February 9, the Chinese New Year’s Eve, and February 16. Analysts say these recreations demonstrate (表现) young people’s creativity and enthusiasm for life, and the innovations that use elements of intangible cultural heritage reflect their growing cultural confidence. 4. What can we learn about Liu Shan from the passage? A. She got inspiration from her friends. B. She began her innovating practices to achieve fame. C. She has been motivated to continue her creation. Young Chinese are showing their creativity on social platforms. D. Young Chinese are increasingly confident about their own culture. 7. What can be the best title for the text? A. Craftsmanship Never Dies B. Innovations Through Traditions C Creative Young Chinese D. Papercutting Combined with Food C A team of researchers is developing a group of robots for space mining (采矿) projects. The team imagines the robots will be able to mine and even build simple structures on the surface of the Moon. While the robots, which will be built and trained on Earth, will first need to receive instructions from operators on our homeworld, the team hopes they will eventually be able to function on their own. The robots will use a learning model adapted by Jekan Thanga, a professor at the University of Arizona (UA). The system will not only train the robots to perform tasks like mining and construction, but will also gradually teach them to work together. The UA team says that the robots won’t take the place of humans. “In a sense, we’re like farmers. We’re developing talent out of these creatures to do certain tasks.” Thanga said “The idea is to let the robots do all the boring and dangerous stuff, so the astronauts can do the more interesting and important stuff.” The key aim in this new era of space exploration has become sustainability. Transporting materials into space isn’t cheap and it takes up valuable room on rocket journeys. That means there is a natural advantage in collecting any materials on the surface of the body you are exploring. Research shows the Moon and Earth have very similar chemical composition (成分). That means that elements found here on Earth should also be available to be mined from the Moon. This includes Earth metals that are used in a range of technologies such as smartphones, and precious metals like silver and gold. Because mining on Earth takes lots of water, something that won’t be available on the Moon, the robots will have to use new mining ways to do that. “To break rocks, we use lots of water, and that’s something we won’t have on the Moon.” a researcher said. “So we need new processes and new techniques.” 8. What advanced function will the learning model enable the robots to develop? A. Judgment. B. Teamwork. C. Designing. D. Communication. 9. What is the main benefit of the robots? A. Finishing space exploration on their own. B. Delivering instructions on behalf of the operators. C. Freeing astronauts to focus on more necessary tasks. D. Using different materials to invent high-tech products. 10. What change might happen in space exploration according to the passage? A. There will be little need to take materials from Earth. B. More valuable room in rockets will be taken up. C. The robots can be recycled on the Moon. D. It will be unnecessary to launch rockets. 11. What does the last paragraph mainly tell us? A. The surface of the Moon is changing. B. Mining on the Moon faces serious challenges. C. The space mining equipment has reached its limit. D. New robots can be used for supplying water on the Moon. D The world’s animal populations have reduced by more than two thirds since 1970, according to a recent research from the World Wildlife Fund. The London group provided information on 32,000 wildlife populations which included more than 5,000 species. The researchers found that population sizes had reduced by 69 percent on average. They said the loss of forests, human exploitation (开采) of the environment, pollution, and climate change were great causes of the reduced populations. Land-use change is still the biggest threat to wildlife. However, the researchers also added that climate change was likely to become the major cause in the coming years. Wildlife populations in Latin American and the Caribbean Sea area were greatly affected. The research showed a 94 percent drop in those areas in over 50 years. Wildlife populations in river and lake habitats decreased the most. Freshwater populations have reduced dramatically since 1970. For example, one population of pink river dolphins in the Amazon River area of Brazil fell by 65 percent between 1996 and 2021. These findings are a red flag that warns of a larger system failure on the way. Even one species’ population drop can affect other species, finally affecting the ecosystem’s ability to function (运转). Humans depend on an unchangeable climate and productive farmland and fisheries to get ahead, but the present states are threatening many life-sustaining ecosystems. Our future depends on changing the unbalance situation of nature just as it depends on addressing climate change. And you can’t solve one without solving the other. Everyone has a role in doing his bit, from individuals (个人) to companies to governments. If nothing changes, animal populations will undoubtedly continue to fall, threatening the ecosystems on which we all depend. 12. What is the greatest threat to the wildlife populations now? A. Air pollution. B. Land-use change. C. Global climate warming. D. Illegal hunting and killing. 13. How does the author describe the decrease of freshwater wildlife? A. By listing numbers. B. By giving an example. C. By explaining the causes. D. By making a comparison. 14. What can be the final result of one species’ population drop? A. The farmland becomes poorer. B. The weather changes unexpectedly. C. The whole ecosystem function poorly. D. The fishing ground is completely polluted. 15 What is the main purpose of the text? A. To warn humans of their extreme behaviour. B. To raise funds for research on climate change. C. To show the difficulty of protecting ecosystem. D. To call on people to take action to protect wildlife. 第二节(共5小题;每小题3分,满分15分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to stay healthy on holiday Taking time to relax on holiday may be good for our health. ____16____. I never saw a single person I knew from middle school. At home I was just as lonely. “My brothers and sister all fit in.” I thought, coming in the door after another bad day at school. “Why can’t I?” Mom was there waiting for me. “Karole your bedroom’s a disaster. Why can’t you keep it clean?” The last thing I needed was criticism from my mother. What had happened to the mother who used to snuggle (依偎) with me on the sofa, loving me with complete acceptance? Who thought everything I did was wonderful? I didn’t bother trying to explain my unhappiness. It was easier to hide in my bedroom, without saying a word, like I did every afternoon. Clearing off some space, I sat down at my desk. Yet another thing I wasn’t good at anymore. My grades had slipped along with my confidence. I turned to a new page in my notebook and started working out the first problem. Almost immediately, I saw I’d made a mistake. “Wrong again!” I thought. “You can’t do anything right!” I tore the paper out of my notebook, balled it up in my fist and threw it at the wastepaper basket. The ball landed on the floor. I heard my mother’s voice in my head, “Why can’t you keep your room clean?” By the time I finished my homework, the floor was littered with crumpled (弄皱的) paper. It gave me a kind of satisfaction to see the mess I’d made. Like it was proof of all my shortcomings. Every time I looked at those crumpled balls, I reminded myself what a failure I was. But my unhappiness stayed hidden away, just like those mistakes. With my face a mask of indifference, no one knew what I was really feeling. Who would want to listen? One day, I came home to an empty house. It was a relief not to be met with Mom’s latest complaint. “Nothing I do is right in her eyes.” I thought. “Or anyone else’s, including mine.” 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 When I opened my bedroom door, I froze at the sight of a neat and orderly room. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I sat down at my desk, staring at those words. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力答案:1-5ACABC 6-10CAABB 11-15CBABA16-20CBACC 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 怀仁市2023—2024学年度下学期高一 第一次教学质量调研试题 英语 (考试时间120分钟,满分150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。 每段对话仅读一遍。 例:How much is the shirt? 【答案】8. B 9. C 10. A 11. 15. What is the main purpose of the text? A. To warn humans of their extreme behaviour. B. To raise funds for research on climate change. C. To show the difficulty of protecting ecosystem. D. To call on people to take action to protect wildlife. 【答案】12. B 13. B 14. C 15. I never saw a single person I knew from middle school. At home I was just as lonely. “My brothers and sister all fit in.” I thought, coming in the door after another bad day at school. “Why can’t I?” Mom was there waiting for me. “Karole, your bedroom’s a disaster. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: When I opened my bedroom door, I froze at the sight of a neat and orderly room. Mom had obviously decided to clean it herself. I was surprised to see the clean floor below my bed. All the crumpled paper had disappeared. Except one. A single sheet lay in plain view. I picked up the sheet and recognized Mom’s perfect handwriting, saying “I have found that I have also been very critical of you lately. For that, I am truly sorry. I only expect that you are to be your same sweet self.” I sat down at my desk, staring at those words. A weight seemed to lift from me. I realized that Mom still loved me the same way. When she got home, I found the confidence to let down my guard and talk to her about how I felt. She and my father teamed up to offer some ideas that might help, like joining after-school clubs. I seemed like everything changed in high school, but one heartfelt note set the stage for the rest of my teenage years. 词类激活 行为类 ①决定做某事:decide to do/be determined to do/make up one’s mind to do ②看见:see/spot/notice/find ③意识到:recognize/realize 情绪类 ①对……不满:be critical of/be unsastified with ③真诚的:heartfelt/sincere/ 【点睛】[高分句型1]I have found that I have also been very critical of you lately.
