文章Big Bus Las Vegas — Open Top Night Tour部分讲到“Admire the glittering lights down town on this evening double-decker bus tour (在这个晚上的双层巴士之旅中,欣赏市中心闪烁的灯光)”可知,游客在敞篷夜游期间可以享受晚上的双层巴士之旅。 文章Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters — Grand Celebration Tour部分讲到“The tour also includes a Champagne picnic (这次旅行还包括一次香槟野餐)”以及Secret Food Tours — Las Vegas Strip部分“Every day Secret Food Tours take groups of 10 participants to five-star restaurants on the Strip to sample a variety of cooking delights, including pizza, chocolates and lobster. (每天,秘密美食之旅都会带着10人一组的参与者去拉斯维加斯大道上的五星级餐厅品尝各种烹饪美食,包括披萨、巧克力和龙虾)”可知,盛大庆典之旅和拉斯维加斯大道的共同点是游客可以品尝一些食物。故选B项。 【3题详解】 细节理解题。文章Cowboy Trail Rides — Red Rock Canyon Sunset Horseback Ride部分讲到“Trail Rides are offered Tuesday through Sunday (周二至周日提供步道骑行)”可知,Cowboy Trail Rides — Red Rock Canyon Sunset Horseback Ride不太可能每天都提供服务。故选D项。 B Ausie Perine is not a typical superhero. Well, maybe he looks the part, with his signature cape (斗篷) flapping against his blue shirt. But two things set this caped fighter apart: His enemy is not an imaginary one from a comic book but hunger and homelessness. Also, he’s only four years old. Our hero’s story started in the family living room. Ausie and his father, TJ Perine, were watching a program on Animal Planet about a mother tiger leaving her cubs. “I told him that the cubs would be homeless,” TJ says. “Ausie didn’t know what homelessness meant, but he was sad and wanted to know more.” Seeing this as a teachable moment, TJ took Ausie to a local shelter, where they saw some homeless men. “Dad, they look sad,” Ausie said. “Can we take them some food and smiles?” That day, Ausie used his allowance to buy each man a sandwich. When they returned the next week, Ausie again dipped into his piggy bank to buy sandwiches, which he handed out along with his new catchphrase, “Don’t forget love!” Days later, word of Ausie’s acts of kindness spread through social media. A local food chain jumped aboard, agreeing to donate $10,000 toward the cause. Soon, donations poured in continuously. Thanks to the collective support, now he can feed about 800 people at once. But Ausie isn’t just filling bellies. He’s improving the lives of those he meets. In the shelter, Ausie talked to a man named Raymont with respect, which touched him deeply. He shared with TJ just how grateful he was to be treated so considerately by a young stranger. With the help of TJ, Raymont obtained a driver’s license, with which he found a job. All that was made possible because a little boy took the time to care. Ausie’s passion has now become his family’s calling. They established the Show Love Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to offering medical and mental health care as preventive steps against homelessness. Young Ausie continues to give out food, smiles, and his inspirational message of love. “It makes me feel like I’m saving the day.” 4. What can we learn about Ausie from paragraph 1 and 2? A. He is fond of animal programs. B. He is nothing special as a fighter. C. He felt upset about the homeless cubs. D. He has imaginary enemies from books. 5. What action of Ausie’s impressed Raymont most? A. Offering him a job. B. Giving him respect. C. Donating food to him. D. Keeping encouraging him. 6. What word best describes Ausie? A. Sympathetic. B. Single-minded. C. Confident. D. Hardworking. 7. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. A Loving Family. B. The Show Love Foundation. C. A Young Kid Helping Others. D. A Caped Fighter against Homelessness. C 5. B 6. A 7. 根据文章第一段“But two things set this caped fighter apart: His enemy is not an imaginary one from a comic book but hunger and homelessness. (但有两件事让这位披着斗篷的斗士与众不同:他的敌人不是漫画书中想象出来的,而是饥饿和无家可归。)”和第二段““I told him that the cubs would be homeless,” TJ says. “Ausie didn’t know what homelessness meant, but he was sad and wanted to know more.”(“我告诉他幼崽们会无家可归,”TJ说。“Ausie不知道无家可归意味着什么,但他很伤心,想知道更多。”)”可知,Ausie Perine并不是一个典型的超级英雄,但他对无家可归的幼崽感到难过。TJ Perine告诉Ausie幼崽会无家可归,而Ausie虽然不知道无家可归的意思,但他感到难过并想了解更多。这说明他对无家可归的幼崽感到难过。故选C。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第五段“In the shelter, Ausie talked to a man named Raymont with respect, which touched him deeply.(在收容所里,Ausie以尊重的态度与Raymont交谈,这深深地打动了他。)” 根据文章第三段““Dad, they look sad,” Ausie said. “Can we take them some food and smiles?” That day, Ausie used his allowance to buy each man a sandwich. When they returned the next week, Ausie again dipped into his piggy bank to buy sandwiches, which he handed out along with his new catchphrase, “Don’t forget love!”(“爸爸,他们看起来很伤心,”Ausie说。“我们能给他们带点食物和微笑吗?”那天,Ausie用他的零用钱给每个人买了一个三明治。当他们下个星期回来的时候,Ausie再次从他的储蓄罐里掏钱买三明治,他一边分发三明治,一边喊着他的新口号:“别忘了爱!”)”可知,Ausie对无家可归的人表示同情,他用自己的零花钱为无家可归的人买三明治,并且说“不要忘记爱”。这些行为都表明Ausie是一个富有同情心的人。故选A。 D“A Caped Fighter against Homelessness. (一个与无家可归作斗争的斗篷战士)”最能概括全文内容。故选D。 C It is a truth universally acknowledged that statues of public figures are hated by everyone, except perhaps their creators and, hopefully, their subjects, if they’re still alive to see them. Jane Austen — the author of Pride and Prejudice — will of course not be around when, or if, the statue in memory of her 250th birthday is built at Winchester Cathedral next year, but according to Jane Austen Society vice president Elizabeth Proudman, the author would not have approved of the proposal anyway. “She is known to have been a modest woman who avoided publicity.” Similar views were aired at a public meeting last week, in which local residents raised concerns that an Austen statue would lead to the “Disneyfication” of the sacred Cathedral. It is no disrespect to the statue’s creator — Martin Jennings to say that it’s difficult to imagine crowds of parents being woken up on the first day of the summer holidays by their screaming six-year-olds begging to be driven down the Cathedral to catch a glimpse of Austen in the bronze. Winchester’s is not the first wrangling over a celebrity sculpture in recent years: when the sculpture of Mary Wollstonecraft, the greatest feminist thinker of the 18th century, was on show, it was laughed at as a tiny misshapen woman. The bust (半身像) of footballing Cristiano Ronaldo was revealed at Madeira airport in 2017, which some commentators observed looked more like the former F1 star David Coulthard. To his credit, the bust’s creator, Emanuel Santos, defended himself admirably, saying “Even Jesus did not please everyone.” When Auguste Rodin’s ogreish (妖魔似的) Monument to Balzac went on display in Paris in 1898, it caused such dislike that it was rejected by the very group that had approved it in the first place. Yet by 1969 Kenneth Clark had declared it “the greatest piece of sculpture of the 19th century”. And you can still see it standing in the most visible place in the Musée Rodin’s gardens today. Perhaps there’s a lesson in that for all the maligned (诽谤) sculptors around the world: just wait 70 odd years and things will blow over. Perhaps by the year 2095, Austen, Wollstonecraft and Ronaldo will be standing toe to toe, bringing glory to some greatly-admired galleries. Or, as someone wisely remarks, “time will explain.” 8. Why did the local people worry about building the statue in the Cathedral? A. Because no one likes statues of public figures. B. Because it may show disrespect for the creator. C. Because Jane Austen didn’t want to be exposed publicly. D. Because it may turn the Cathedral into kids’ pleasure ground. 9. What does the underlined word “wrangling” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Arguing. B. Avoiding. C. Justifying. D. Interrupting. 10. How does the third paragraph mainly develop? A. By listing statistics. B. By offering examples. C. By giving a definition. D. By quoting someone’s words. 11. What is the author’s opinion about the statues of public figures? A. They are unworthy to be built. B. They will possibly be popular in the future. C. They will cause people’s hate to the subjects. D. They are bound to bring honor to noted galleries. D 9. A 10. B 11. 根据文章第二段“Similar views were aired at a public meeting last week, in which local residents raised concerns that an Austen statue would lead to the “Disneyfication” of the sacred Cathedral. It is no disrespect to the statue’s creator — Martin Jennings to say that it’s difficult to imagine crowds of parents being woken up on the first day of the summer holidays by their screaming six-year-olds begging to be driven down the Cathedral to catch a glimpse of Austen in the bronze.(在上周的一次公众会议上,当地居民也表达了类似的观点,他们担心奥斯汀的雕像会导致神圣的大教堂被“迪士尼化”。 根据划线单词下文“when the sculpture of Mary Wollstonecraft, the greatest feminist thinker of the 18th century, was on show, it was laughed at as a tiny misshapen woman.(当18世纪最伟大的女权主义思想家Mary Wollstonecraft的雕塑展出时,它被嘲笑为一个畸形的小女人。)” 故选A。 根据文章第三段“Winchester’s is not the first wrangling over a celebrity sculpture in recent years: when the sculpture of Mary Wollstonecraft, the greatest feminist thinker of the 18th century, was on show, it was laughed at as a tiny misshapen woman. The bust (半身像) of footballing Cristiano Ronaldo was revealed at Madeira airport in 2017, which some commentators observed looked more like the former F1 star David Coulthard. To his credit, the bust’s creator, Emanuel Santos, defended himself admirably, saying “Even Jesus did not please everyone.”(温彻斯特的雕塑并不是近年来第一次围绕名人雕塑发生争执:当18世纪最伟大的女权主义思想家Mary Wollstonecraft的雕塑展出时,它被嘲笑为一个畸形的小女人。 根据文章最后一段“When Auguste Rodin’s ogreish (妖魔似的) Monument to Balzac went on display in Paris in 1898, it caused such dislike that it was rejected by the very group that had approved it in the first place. Yet by 1969 Kenneth Clark had declared it “the greatest piece of sculpture of the 19th century”. (1898年,当Auguste Rodin的妖魔似的巴尔扎克纪念碑在巴黎展出时,它引起了如此的厌恶,以至于最初批准它的团体也拒绝了它。然而,到1969年, Kenneth Clark宣称它是“19世纪最伟大的雕塑作品”。)”以及“Perhaps by the year 2095, Austen, Wollstonecraft and Ronaldo will be standing toe to toe, bringing glory to some greatly-admired galleries. Or, as someone wisely remarks, “time will explain.”(也许到2095年,奥斯汀、沃斯通克拉夫特和罗纳尔多将会站在一起,为一些备受推崇的画廊带来荣耀。或者,正如有人明智地说,“时间会解释的。”)”可知,作者认为这些雕像以后可能会受欢迎。故选B。 D On a chilly autumn morning in the Italian countryside near Larderello, Tuscany, the misty landscape reminded me why the area is nicknamed the Devil’s Valley. The land here is a web of natural cracks in the rock that let a mix of steam and gases reach the surface. Unlike the rolling hills and cypress-lined roads of other parts of Tuscany, the landscape here is covered with dozens of grey cooling towers puffing white vapors. The deafening roar of a turbine (涡轮机) at the Valle Secolo geothermal (地热的) plant breaks the quietness, but its violent spinning transforms steam rising from underground into energy for 150,000 families in the region. About 30% of Tuscany’s electricity comes from this energy source. After producing electricity, the leftover steam heats water for nearby districts. This underground energy has recently proved a vital resource. Italy greatly depended on Russian fossil fuels and in 2023 Italians bore the world’s highest household electricity bills. Factories cut down production and households had to turn down their heaters. But residents of the Larderello area spent the winter in warm homes, thanks to the local geothermal plants working 24/7. Bruno Della Vedova, president of the Italian Geothermal Union, hopes that in the future other Italian regions could benefit from such a resource, which is extremely important when the whole world looks to transition to renewable energy. While countries like Iceland and Kenya are taking advantage of their geothermal resources, the industry’s growth has made slow progress in Italy. High set-up costs and difficulties in extraction present significant barriers. And new plants often run into opposition from nearby communities over health concerns. Italy sits on a geothermal sweet spot. Especially below Larderello, as Della Vedova says. A vast reservoir (储备) of steam and water is trapped between Earth’s inner heat and a layer of clay-heavy rocks. High temperatures lead to the formation of steam directly inside the reservoir, providing a significant source of energy. But while heat from Earth’s core is practically endless, the water it heats within the planet are not. So Della Vedova says restoring underground water supplies and using them sustainably is critical for the future. “We can’t take advantage of a geothermal resource at will,” he says. 12. What is the second paragraph mainly about? A. The landscape in the countryside. B. The introduction to a geothermal plant. C. The application of geothermal energy in Tuscany. D. The process of turning underground steam into heat. 13. Why has geothermal industry developed slowly in Italy? A. People near new plants object to it. B. Geothermal plants cut down their production. C. There is very little underground water and steam. D. People use less electricity by turning down heaters. 14. What is Della Vedova’s attitude to the prospect of geothermal energy? A. Unfavorable. B. Unclear. C. Optimistic. D. Cautious. 15. What does the passage mainly talk about? A. Where does geothermal energy lead Italy? B. Is the heat from Earth’s core really limitless? C. Can energy from underground help power Italy? D. How can geothermal energy be used scientifically? C 13. A 14. D 15. 根据文章第二段“Unlike the rolling hills and cypress-lined roads of other parts of Tuscany, the landscape here is covered with dozens of grey cooling towers puffing white vapors. After producing electricity, the leftover steam heats water for nearby districts.(与托斯卡纳其他地区连绵起伏的丘陵和柏树林立的道路不同,这里的风景被几十座灰色的冷却塔覆盖,散发着白色的蒸汽。 根据文章第五段“While countries like Iceland and Kenya are taking advantage of their geothermal resources, the industry’s growth has made slow progress in Italy. High set-up costs and difficulties in extraction present significant barriers. And new plants often run into opposition from nearby communities over health concerns.(冰岛和肯尼亚等国正在利用本国的地热资源,而意大利的地热产业发展却进展缓慢。高昂的安装成本和困难的开采构成了重大障碍。此外,新工厂经常因为健康问题遭到附近社区的反对。)”可知,意大利地热产业发展缓慢是因为高昂的设立成本和提取困难,也是因为新建工厂经常因为健康担忧而遭到附近社区的反对。故选A。 根据文章最后一段“But while heat from Earth’s core is practically endless, the water it heats within the planet are not. So Della Vedova says restoring underground water supplies and using them sustainably is critical for the future. “We can’t take advantage of a geothermal resource at will,” he says.(但是,虽然地核的热量实际上是无穷无尽的,但它在地球上加热的水却不是。因此,Della Vedova表示,恢复地下水供应并可持续地利用它们对未来至关重要。“我们不能随意利用地热资源”,他说。)”可知,Della Vedova对地热能源前景抱有谨慎的态度。故选D。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据文章第四段“Bruno Della Vedova, president of the Italian Geothermal Union, hopes that in the future other Italian regions could benefit from such a resource, which is extremely important when the whole world looks to transition to renewable energy.( Bruno Della Vedova是意大利地热联盟的主席,他希望将来意大利的其他地区也能从这种资源中受益。当全世界都在向可再生能源过渡时,这种资源是极其重要的。)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要描述了意大利托斯卡纳地区的地热能源如何被用来为当地居民提供电力和供暖,并强调了这种能源在能源供应中的重要性。同时,文章也提到了地热能源的前景和挑战,以及意大利地热联盟主席Bruno Della Vedova对地热能源的看法和态度。选项C“Can energy from underground help power Italy?(来自地下的能源能帮助为意大利供电吗?)” Living a fulfilling life is far less complicated than you think. ____16____ It takes time to heal the negative and grow the positive in its place. The following tips are highly recommended. Say “Yes!” more often. “Yes” is a key that opens up doors to things you may have never known. Don’t define yourself by everything you think you know about. Take some risks! Say yes to opportunities when they come around! Life is a constant learning process where you will hopefully gain new perspectives. ____17____ Forgive easily and often. ____18____ But actually, there is a huge middle ground where pretty much everyone is. Let go of the mindset of good and bad. Instead, let people be the flawed creatures they are. Forgive yourself for not doing the right things, and then make better choices now that you know better. Contribute to others’ happiness. A fulfilling life requires abandoning patterns of self-absorption and selfishness. ____19____ It means you lift your eyes above your own life and consider how to better the lives of others. As you see your words and actions contributing positively to others’ lives, your life has a great deal of meaning. ____20____ You’ll hardly feel fulfilled if your energy goes in only one direction—out. Just as you pour love into others, you must do the same to yourself. Take time to nurture your own self with passions, self-care, or goal-oriented activities. It doesn’t have to be something grand or expensive. Taking a stroll in nature or curling up with a good book are excellent ways of experiencing personal happiness. A. Set aside “me” time. B. Interact more with others. C. It’s no easy thing to forgive others. D. Instead, you should try to make others’ day. E. Don’t cut yourself off from life by shaking your head. F. The biggest obstacle people encounter is a lack of patience. G. Many people look on others or themselves as either nice or evil. F 17. E 18. G 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 根据前文“Living a fulfilling life is far less complicated than you think.(过充实的生活远没有你想象的那么复杂)”以及后文“It takes time to heal the negative and grow the positive in its place.(我们需要时间来治愈消极情绪,让积极情绪取而代之)”可知,前文讲述过充实的生活远没有你想象的那么复杂,后文提出方法,所以空处应该提到一个需要时间的障碍或问题,所以F项“The biggest obstacle people encounter is a lack of patience.(人们遇到的最大障碍是缺乏耐心)”承接上文,并且和后文相呼应。故选F项。 【17题详解】 设空位于段尾是对前文的总结,根据前文““Yes” is a key that opens up doors to things you may have never known. Don’t define yourself by everything you think you know about. Take some risks! Say yes to opportunities when they come around! Life is a constant learning process where you will hopefully gain new perspectives.(“是”是一把钥匙,能为你打开一扇通往未知世界的大门。不要通过你认为自己知道的一切来定义自己。冒点险吧!当机会来临时,对它说“是”!生活是一个不断学习的过程,在这个过程中,你有望获得新的视角)”可知,本段主要讲述了总是说“是”可以过充实的生活,所以E项“Don’t cut yourself off from life by shaking your head.(不要因为摇头就把自己与生活隔绝了)”符合本段主题,是对前文的总结。故选E项。 【18题详解】 设空位于段首,为本段中心句,根据后文“But actually, there is a huge middle ground where pretty much everyone is. Let go of the mindset of good and bad. Instead, let people be the flawed creatures they are. Forgive yourself for not doing the right things, and then make better choices now that you know better.(但实际上,几乎每个人都存在一个广阔的中间地带。放下对好与坏的执念。相反,让人们成为他们自身有缺陷的存在。原谅自己过去没有做出正确的选择,既然你现在更明白了,就做出更好的选择吧)”可知,本段主要讲述了,不要太在乎好与坏,所以G项“Many people look on others or themselves as either nice or evil.(许多人认为别人或自己不是好就是坏)”符合本段主题,为本段中心句。故选G项。 【19题详解】 根据前文“A fulfilling life requires abandoning patterns of self-absorption and selfishness.(充实的人生需要摒弃自我专注和自私的模式)”以及后文“It means you lift your eyes above your own life and consider how to better the lives of others.(它意味着你把目光从自己的生活中抬起,考虑如何改善他人的生活)”可知,D项“Instead, you should try to make others’ day.(相反,你应该试着让别人开心)”是对前文的进一步说明,而后句是对本句的详细说明,符合文意。故选D项。 【20题详解】 分析设空,为本段小标题,根据后文“You’ll hardly feel fulfilled if your energy goes in only one direction—out. Just as you pour love into others, you must do the same to yourself. Take time to nurture your own self with passions, self-care, or goal-oriented activities. It doesn’t have to be something grand or expensive. Taking a stroll in nature or curling up with a good book are excellent ways of experiencing personal happiness.(如果你的精力只流向一个方向,那你很难感到满足。就像你把爱倾注给别人一样,你也必须这样对待自己。花点时间用激情、自我照顾或目标导向的活动来培养自己。它不必是宏伟或昂贵的东西。在大自然中散步或蜷缩着读一本好书是体验个人幸福的绝佳方式)”可知,本段主要讲述了留些时间给自己,所以A项“Set aside “me” time.(留出自己的时间)”符合文意,为本段小标题。故选A项。 Torrie, 16, and her friend Azarria were driving back home when another car hit them. He agreed only if I had a bicycle. My dad bought me a used bike, but right after that he fell ill and couldn’t teach me to ride. Mr. Miceli, however, merely asked to see the bike. So I walked to his garage, showed it to him and got the job. At first, I filled my delivery bag with rolled papers over the handlebars and walked my bike down the sidewalks. But pushing a bike with a load of papers was awkward; after a few days I borrowed Mom’s two-wheeled shopping cart. It took me longer to make my deliveries by cart, but I didn’t mind. I sent each paper to its proper destination. In rain or snow, I put Dad’s old raincoat over the cart to keep the papers dry. I got to meet everyone in the neighborhood — working-class people of Italian, German or Polish origins who were invariably kind to me. When Dad returned from the hospital, he was too weak to resume his original job. Now we needed every penny we could raise to pay bills, so we sold the bike. Mr. Miceli must have known I wasn’t using a bike, but he said nothing about it to me. On the Thursday evening before Christmas, 1951, I rang my first customer’s doorbell. Even though the lights were on, nobody answered, so I went on to the next house. No answer, nor did anyone respond at the next family on my route, or the one after. I was very worried; I had to pay for my papers every Friday. And while it was almost Christmas, I never thought that everyone would be out shopping. So I was very happy when, going up the walkway to Mr. Gordon’s house, I heard music and voices. I rang the bell. The door flew open, and Mr. Gordon dragged me inside. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After walking the bicycle home, I opened those envelopes. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The door flew open, and Mr. Gordon dragged me inside. Jammed in his living room were all my subscribers! In the center of the room, I saw a new bicycle, a canvas bag packed with colorful envelopes on its handlebar. “A Christmas present our best paperboy!” Mr. Gordon said. Sensing my confusion, he continued, “We’ve all seen you in the rain and snow with that little shopping cart, so we suppose you ought to have a bicycle.” Deeply touched, I felt tears of gratitude filling my eyes. After walking the bicycle home, I opened those envelopes. They held Christmas cards from every subscriber, along with their subscription fees and tips. Kindness did not end there, though. The next day, when I got to Mr. Miceli’s garage, he was waiting outside. “Bring your bike tomorrow morning, and I’ll teach you to ride,” he offered. When I felt comfortable on a bike, Mr. Miceli asked me to deliver a second route. Delivering both routes on my new bike, I really appreciated the kind Chicagoans’ love and support. 词汇激活 行为类 ①看见,发现:see/spot ②充满:be packed with/be full of/be filled with ③到达:get to/arrive at/reach 情绪类 ①感谢:gratitude/appreciation ②感动:touched/moved 【点睛】[高分句型1] Jammed in his living room were all my subscribers! When they returned the next week, Ausie again dipped into his piggy bank to buy sandwiches, which he handed out along with his new catchphrase, “Don’t forget love!” Days later word of Ausie’s acts of kindness spread through social media. C It is a truth universally acknowledged that statues of public figures are hated by everyone, except perhaps their creators and, hopefully, their subjects, if they’re still alive to see them. D On a chilly autumn morning in the Italian countryside near Larderello, Tuscany, the misty landscape reminded me why the area is nicknamed the Devil’s Valley. Living a fulfilling life is far less complicated than you think. ____16____ It takes time to heal the negative and grow the positive in its place. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
