When was the last time that you dialed (拨) a phone number from memory? It probably depends on how long you’ve used technology like a smartphone. While some old people can recall the days of memorizing phone numbers, it’s possible that teenagers have never had to remember any telephone numbers. Smartphones offer quick and easy ways for keeping information. There is no need to memorize anything. But this isn’t without bad results.
As smartphones develop more and more, users’ heavily depending on them may cause terrible results. “Digital dementia” is the words used by experts to describe some of these results. Some doctors like Jim Kwik, an expert in memory improvement, are taking a closer look at this result, Kwik describes digital dementia like this, “we’re offering our brains to our smart devices.” He continues, “We’re depending on our smartphones so heavily that our smartphones are making us stupid.” As medical studies show the drop in memory and learning skills among smartphone users, a connection is made between symptoms (症状) which are connected with dementia.
The seriousness of overuse becomes clear when you consider just how young smartphone users are becoming. Writer and speaker Simon Sinek points out that young minds “Are not ready for it! Their minds cannot deal with the problems”. So, smartphones screens and sounds lead to addiction more often than not. So now parents, teachers and managers should try to deal with the young people with this kind of addiction (着迷, 上瘾) .
In fact, smartphones aren’t all bad. They’re really easy to use, and the connectivity they create cannot be thought wrong. The key is finding out: how to make a balance between usage and nonuse. We should control our cellphone use, making sure when and where we can use cellphones.
8. Why don’t young kids remember any telephone numbers?
A. Because teenagers are too lazy to remember information.
B. Because smartphones can keep and offer information.
C. Because it’s hard for teenagers to remember information.
9. We can learn from Paragraph 3 that ________.
A. we should stop young kids from using smartphones.
B. it’s very dangerous for young kids to use smartphones.
C. we should help kids deal with the smartphone addiction.
10. What may happen if we heavily depend on smartphones according to medical studies?
A. Memory will drop. B. Learning skills will improve. C. Kids will be cleverer.
11. How does the writer end this passage?
A. By advising controlling our smartphone use.
B. By saying that smartphones aren’t all bad.
C. By saying that smartphones are very helpful.

These brands got what they wanted. Young people gradually changed their attention from Western culture to guochao. They accepted it with pleasure. What’s more, they started to develop interest in traditional Chinese art and literature. Now they wear traditional clothes, practice Chinese calligraphy and play Chinese musical instruments. Some of them are working together to spread Chinese culture to people around the world.
At the same time, people of different ages start to choose products “made in China”. According to a survey, 68% Chinese people prefer Chinese brands. Among them, 62% say they are open to international brands, but Chinese brands remain the first choice.
