They advised to build more old people’s service stations in the neighborhood. They also gave suggestions about how governments, neighborhoods and hospitals can work together to make this happen. An old people’s service station is different from a nursing home. It offers things like daytime care, cooking, cleaning and friendship to old people who live in their own homes. The students surveyed more than 1,100 people, about 90 percent of them said they would prefer using the stations’ services to moving into a nursing home. However, there are not enough of these stations, and many are not run very well. The six students came up with a solution after reading more than 60 surveys, interviewing 108 people and visiting 25 different organizations. Their proposal beat out almost 100 others to win the Best Proposal award (奖项) in 2021. “This experience helps me to better understand the importance of caring old people. Also I see the light and abilities in us,” said Xu Wanqing, one of the students. “Taking part in the China Youth Model CPPCC has been good for students,” agreed their teacher Li Jie. “They’ve developed a sense of caring old people, as well as gotten more confidence about themselves since they’ve seen how much they can do for others.” 28. If children use screens for more than one hour a day, they might have lower levels of white matter in their brains. White matter is a key to the development of language and reading skills. So it is wise to cut down the time of children using all kinds of screens. Third, using screens too much will affect your sleep. According to a study, about 95% of the people between the ages of 13 and 64 use electronics before bed, especially the young people under 20. Doctors say that the light from those electronics at night may make you excited before you go to bed. Then it’s hard for you to get enough sleep. To keep healthy, doctors and researchers strongly advise that you shouldn’t use screens for long hours. 32. The blue light from your screens can cause ________. A. eye strain B. headaches C. Many parents are worried. How can they connect (连接) with their kids? Well, smart watches may be the answer to their worries. Smart watches are like small computers. They usually tell time and count a person’s steps. Most smart watches connect with smart phones and they let the users make calls, and send and receive messages. Often smart watches have microphones (麦克风) and speakers. Some even have cameras. Children are too young to have a mobile phone, so many parents buy smart watches for them. They are less worried because they can call their children at any time through smart watches. Also, many smart watches have GPS trackers (追踪器) where their children are, so they know if everything is OK. But now some groups in Europe say many smart watches are not as safe as what we think. Some watches allow more than parents to track where the children are. They also allow anyone to send the children a message. People can also control the watches from far away to watch and listen to the children. To be safe, anytime a smart watch makes a call or sends a message or GPS information—the information should be processed (数据处理). So no one else can get the information. 36. 请回答问题。 Why are many parents worried? ________________________________ 37. 请把文中划线句子翻译成汉语。 ________________________________ 38. 请从文中找出与下面所给句子意思相近的句子。 Children are so young that they can’t have a mobile phone. ________________________________ 39. 请给短文拟一个恰当的英文标题。 ________________________________ 40. 请结合自身实际回答问题。 What do you think of smart watches? ________________________________ 【答案】36. China B Duan Jiayang, a 12-year-old student of a primary school in Yinchuan, Ningxia, learns the skills required to take care of vegetable fields. “I learned how to place the mulch film (地膜),” he says, “It’s not easy.” In China, many parents place a heavy focus on their children’s good results, but vocational (职业的) skills have little been cared. “Some parents do everything for their children,” says Yan Mei, an official with the primary school, adding that many students are short of the basic skills needed in their daily lives. For example, Yan says, some parents would do the school’s general cleaning instead of their children. Since March last year, the governments have launched a lot of policies, requiring that colleges, middle schools and primary schools pay more attention to teaching students practical skills. Following these policies, the primary school launched an “agricultural (农业的) class base” on one of its schoolyards. Students plant fruit and vegetables on an area of land about 4,000 m2 in size. In the days coming up to the May Day holiday, students of various grades at the school worked together in the fields, says school principal Yang Bo. They planted watermelon, carrot and corn. Have you ever helped old people who live alone? Can they get help when they need it? Six students from Beijing 101 Middle School looked deeper at this question and wrote a proposal (提案) to the China Youth Model Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (全国青少年模拟政协活动). How many students wrote the proposal? A. 6. B. 25. C. 100. 29. What do most people prefer doing in the survey? A. Moving into a nursing home. B. Using the old people’s stations’ services. C. D It might be fun to use your smartphone but be careful. Too much screen time may be harmful to your health. First, it is bad for your eyes. A researcher called Sarah Hinkley says the problem comes from the blue light that the screen gives out. Looking at a smartphone for a long time can cause eye strain (劳损), headaches and dry eyes. So it is a good idea to take a break every 15 minutes when you are working at a computer or using a smartphone. Second, screen use can do harm to children’s brains. A new study shows that using screens too much can affect (影响) how children’s brains grow. So you’d better turn off smartphones, TVs, and all other screens an hour before your bedtime. ________________________________ 四、综合填空(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分) 阅读下面短文,用括号内所给词汇的适当形式填空,使短文语义完整。 interesting fly go from fell quick themselves gift swimming stories Which word will you use to describe the beauty of a girl?
