B They may look like something out of a fantasy movie, but narwhals (独角鲸) are very real animals. Here are some fun facts about narwhals. Narwhals change color a few times throughout their lives. When they’re born, most narwhals are blue-gray. But as they grow older, their color changes to blue-black, while adult narwhals are usually gray with dark spots. Old narwhals are almost all white. Like elephant tusks (长牙), a narwhal’s tusk is actually a tooth. It can grow as long as 3meters. Tusks are more common in male narwhals. They use tusks to attract (吸引) female narwhals. Narwhals have also been seen using their tusks to hit fish so they can be caught and eaten. And some narwhals even have two tusks! Narwhals are among the deepest diving whales, reaching depths of about 1, 500 meters—although some have been known to reach depths of over 1, 700 meters, according to the University of Washington. Narwhals usually stay less than 50 meters from the surface of the water, however. But they can stay underwater for 25 minutes before needing to come up for air! Living in the cold Arctic waters of Greenland, Norway, Russia and Canada, narwhals don’t have a dorsal fin(背鳍). The absence of a dorsal fin allows the narwhal to prevent heat loss, reducing surface area, and allows them to swim under ice sheets. Known as the “unicorns(独角兽) of the sea”, narwhals are really interesting animals you must watch when you take a trip to the Arctic Circle. ( )25.At birth, what color are the most narwhals? A.Blue-gray. B.Gray with dark spots. C.Almost all white. ( )26.Which is NOT true about a narwhal’s tusk? A.It’s a very long tooth. B.It’s of no use at all. C.It’s used for hunting fish. ( )27.Which subtitle can match Paragraph 5 best? A.Deep divers. B.One big tooth. C.Absence of a dorsal fin. ( )28.Which is the best structure of the passage? (P=Paragraph) A. B. C. C Imagine taking a flying taxi to the airport, or jumping over crowded city streets at rush hour, getting where you want to go far faster than you could in a car. Believe it or not, you might be able to do these things in an air taxi sooner than you think. An air taxi is something like a helicopter(直升飞机) that can carry people from place to place. Air taxis don’t need a long runway like planes do. They can go straight up and down. In June, the government of America agreed to allow a company called Joby Aviation to start testing their new air taxi. This is the first time they’ve tested a taxi that’s been built in a factory. Before that, all their taxis were made by hand. By 2025, Joby hopes to start carrying passengers for money. They’ve teamed up with Delta Air Lines to create a program to fly people from their homes to the airport. Joby’s air taxis will be flown by a pilot, and can carry four other passengers. They can go around 100miles before the electric batteries need to be recharged(充电). Compared with helicopters, Joby says their air taxis are both quieter and cheaper. The company expects to charge about $3 a mile at first. But over time, they hope to bring the price down to less than $1 a mile. And as exciting as the idea of flying taxis is, some people have concerns about them. The air taxis may be quieter than helicopters, but they’ll still be adding noise and traffic to our skies. Some people worry that only rich people will be able to afford to use them. It seems likely that air taxis will be part of the future of travel. But there’s still a lot to do before air taxis become common. ( )29.How does the writer begin the passage? A.By raising a question. B.By imagining a scene. C.By making a comparison. ( )30.Which of the following is TRUE about Joby’s new air taxi? A.It’s made by hand. B.It can fly 100 miles per hour. C.It can carry five people in all. ( )31.What is Paragraph 6 mainly about? A.The concerns about the new air taxi. B.The noise created by the new air taxi. C.The high price of taking the new air taxi. ( )32.What is the best title of the passage ? A.A new flying taxi B.The future of travel C.Different methods of transportation D Confucianism (儒家思想) has been followed by Chinese people for more than two thousand years, To help people understand how to behave towards others, Confucianism teaches the Five Constants(五常). These are ren, yi, li, zhi and xin. They are general virtues(美德) around the world. The most important two are ren and li. Ren is the feeling of care and love we should have for others. Confucius explained ren could best be understood as loving others. He is famous for teaching people “What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to other”. It is quite similar to what is known in the West as the Golden Rule(treat others as you wish to be treated). While the meaning of ren is easy to understand, li is a little harder to express. It can be thought of as “duty” or even “respect”. Generally, li is the way we should connect with people in our everyday life. In Confucian writings, discussions about li include the proper way to drink tea and how to remember ancestors. While ren is mostly about our opinions and feelings, li is about how we express our opinions and feelings towards others and towards the world around us. Perhaps the most well-known Confucian virtue is xiao. This is the duty children have to their parents. Xiao means loving, respecting, obeying and taking care of one’s parents in their old age. In Confucianism, xiao is important for a harmonious(和谐的) society: Without it, the whole world would fall into a mess. 根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。 ( )33.Which are the most important of the Five Constants? A.Ren and yi. B.Ren and li. C.Li and xin. ( )34.What is the best Chinese for the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3? ( )36.What does the passage mainly tell us about Confucianism? A.Its general virtues. B.Its long history. C.Its new challenges. (二)阅读下面短文根据短文内容,从下列选项中选出能填入文中空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余选项。 An apology (道歉) means one person has realized that an action was wrong and hurtful. No matter what they are apologizing for, if they hurt someone, then saying sorry is the first step. Teaching kids how to apologize is an important skill. Why should we teach our kids to say sorry? Since everyone makes mistakes, learning to apologize is one necessary part of growing up. 37 ●Saying sorry is a valuable social skill. ● 38 ●Apologizing means they take responsibility for their actions. ●It is the power of healing(治愈) a relationship. ●It helps them feel better about themselves. Why do kids find it difficult to apologize? There are several reasons why kids may find it difficult to apologize: ●Lack of understanding. ●Feeling ashamed or embarrassed. 39 . Finding the courage to apologize can be very challenging for anyone, but it’s even more difficult for little ones just finding their way in the world. Should we force a kid to apologize? When it comes to forcing your children to apologize, it probably won’t solve anything. 40 . Think about your own mistakes. If someone forced you to apologize, would you want to? Children are the same way. Don’t force children to apologize. When something that needs an apology happens, ask open- ended questions to help them come to a conclusion(结论) on their own. A.In fact, forcing kids to apologize is training them to lie. B.It’s not very difficult for them to apologize to others. Though simple and little, they are a great invention in the history of humans. There are many legends(传说) about chopsticks, Da Yu and Chopsticks is one of them. It is said that during Yao and Shun times, Shun ordered Yu to control the flood. One day, Yu took a boat to an island, and he was so hungry that he used an earth pot to cook meat. After the meat was well-done in boiled water, he didn’t want to waste time to wait for it to cool, so he took two branches(树枝) to pick up the meat from the soup. After that, to save time, he always took small branches to take out food from the hot pot. For a long time, he was skilled at picking up food with small sticks. In this way, the first types of chopsticks were born. Some people think that the famous scholar Confucius(孔子) living from about 551 BC to 479 BC pushed the development of chopsticks. Confucius believed that using chopsticks instead of knives would remind people to stay away from killing and violence(暴力) at table. We enjoy our delicious food with our family members or friends while feeling the peaceful and people-loving world by using chopsticks at table anytime. The chopsticks are made of different kinds of materials including bamboo, wood, animal bone, beautiful stone, and some other materials. There are more than 200 types of chopsticks now. Among them, the bamboo chopsticks are most widely used. “A chopstick can be broken easily; ten pairs of chopsticks hold each other tightly...” The song is popular with many people, and it always encourages people to work together. 根据短文内容,回答下列问题。 61.When were the first types of chopsticks born? _________________________________________________________________________________________ 62.How did Yu pick up the meat from the soup? _________________________________________________________________________________________ 63.Why did Confucius encourage people to use chopsticks instead of knives? _________________________________________________________________________________________ 64.What kind of chopsticks do you like?
