I have seen many parents wonder whether they did enough to create happy memories for their kids. My own experiences have taught me that I cared most about the simple things I did with my dad.
When I was growing up, I was not able to spend much time with my dad. He worked about 70 hours a week. He had to make money to support our family.
But I remember there were summers when my dad and I would go to the local park near our house and play soccer with some of his friends on a Saturday afternoon. It was fantastic! I loved playing sports and I loved being able to do that with him. After we played, we would get ice cream at the ice cream shop on the way back home. Sometimes during the summer time, if I was playing basketball in our yard, he would also come outside and played with me. We would talk and relax for those few moments. It was amazing.
It didn't happen as often as I would like. As a result, I cherished (珍惜) every chance to get along with him.
But I never told him how happy I was when he would come outside with me,because I never wanted him to feel bad that he had to work so much and couldn't be with me. I wanted to learn from him and I wanted him to teach me how to be a responsible man, just like him.
Years have passed. I still clearly remember those simple things that we did together. I have learned that when I become a dad,I can't win my children's love through gifts or money. Love is won through the time I spend with them.

Here is how to make a model submarine(潜水艇) that dives(潜水) and comes up from water like a real one.
You'll need:
Plastic bottle ●Tape(胶带)
Four coins ●Small scissors ●Bathtub(浴缸)
Thin rubber(橡胶的) or plastic tube(管子)
·Waterproof(防水的) modeling clay(黏土)——not real clay, which dissolves(溶解) in water
Ways of making it:
1. Cut two small holes on one side of the bottle. Tape coins to that side of the bottle. Remove the cap; fix the tube to the bottle with clay.
2. Fill the bathtub with water; put the bottle in and let it fill with water.
3. Gently blow into the tube and observe what happens. Stop blowing and close the tube with your thumb. Lift your thumb and watch what happens.
What happens?
When you blow, air pushes out water; the bottle becomes lighter and rises. The bottle sinks (下沉) when it fills with water and coins weight it down. Coins keep holes pointing downward, so air does not escape.
When you stop blowing and seal(密封) the tube with your thumb the bottle floats. When you lift your thumb, air escapes through the tube and the bottle sinks. A real submarine works this way, by filling tanks with air or water.
