So China has many types of Chinese food with different but mouth-watering flavor (风味). In general, Chinese food can be mainly divided into eight cuisines (菜系). Let’s have a look at some of them. Sichuan cuisine is hot, spicy and sour. It has something to do with the wet weather of that area and people need hot food to stay away from the wet. There are many popular dishes that stand for Sichuan cuisine like Kung Pao Chicken. Zhejiang cuisine is from the local dishes of Hangzhou, Ningbo and Shaoxing. Food in Zhejiang has a pleasant smell and it tastes fresh. And most of the dishes are perfectly made. If you visit Zhejiang, you must taste Dongpo Pork. Fujian cuisine often uses materials from the sea to cook. It tastes light and the color is beautiful. You can enjoy different kinds of soup in Fujian, because many dishes of Fujian cuisine are served in soup, like Fo Tiao Qiang. Shandong cuisine is very famous in northern China. It includes much seafood which tastes light and fresh. It is also the symbol of cooking culture along the Yellow River. Its most famous dish is Sweet and Sour Carp. 31.Sichuan cuisine helps local people ________. A.become strong B.keep away from the wet C.stay cool D.keep warm 32.Both of the materials of Fujian cuisine and Shandong cuisine mainly come from ________. A.the sea B.the field C.the mountain D.the forest 33.From the passage, we can learn that ________. A.most of the Chinese prefer Sichuan cuisine B.Chinese cuisines are becoming more popular around the world C.visitors can enjoy different kinds of soup in Zhejiang D.different cuisines are formed because of different living conditions B After my mother was diagnosed (诊断) with Alzheimer’s (阿尔茨海默病), the plants in our house began to die. In years past, I remember the deep, earths smell that would rise up in our house after my mother had made her weekly watering rounds. Back then, I never connected it with the care taking that was at the foundation (基础) of everything she did. But now, leaves were dropping, some dry and edged with brown, and many of the stems bare (光秃秃的). It was a mark of how my mother is no longer able to care for all the things to which she lovingly attended. I had been so focused on the increasing demands (要求) of her own care that her beloved plants had escaped my notice. I began her old rounds, pouring water into the thirsty soil (土壤), and soon they thrived. That’s the thing about house plants: They demand nothing. They wait quietly, no matter how thirsty they are. But even after my best attempts some of the plants could not be revived (复活). My mother’s kind caregivers have since brought new ones to add to her collection, and my father buys fresh flowers every week at the fruit and vegetable market. Even as Alzheimer’s steals so much of her moment-to-moment memory, her desire to care is still there. I would guide her down the steps to water one of the plants herself with her little white watering can. I watched as her trembling (颤抖的) hands plucked (摘) the leaves that had turned brown. Each time, she smiled up at me with deep satisfaction because being able to care for something is still what brings her the greatest joy. I look at plants differently these days. I see them as my mother does: quiet reminders of the need for kindness toward all living things. It is clear to me that the things we spend a lifetime cultivating (培养) are never truly lost; the love she has planted in me still blooms. 29. Why did the plants in the author’s house begin to dip? A. They were attacked by a disease. B. The author paid no attention to them. C. The author’s mom didn’t like them any more. D. The author was not good at caring for them. 30. How did the author revive the dying plants? A. By watering them regularly. B. By plucking the brown leaves. C. By moving them out of the house. D. By asking a gardener for help. 31. What brings the greatest joy to the author’s mother? A. Memories of the past. B. Her caregivers’ help. C. Showing her kindness and care. D. New plants bought by her husband. 32. What message does the author want to convey with the article? A. We should always care for our family. B. Alzheimer’s has a huge impact on people. C. Plants can bring us satisfaction. D. Small acts of kindness are powerful. C One morning, as Mary was skipping slowly along the path, she heard the sound of music. She was very curious and went to find out. Then she unlocked the door, and they went in together. “Here it is,” she said. “It’s a secret garden.” Dickon’s blue eyes opened wide in surprise as he looked at the garden. “It’s very pretty,” he whispered. “It’s like being in a dream. To preserve (保存) Danish paintings, a group of researchers studied what ancient paint was made of. They did experiments on small pieces of paintings that had already been cut off from the original artwork. According to their paper published in Science Advances, grains (谷物) and yeast (醇母) were found on the base of the paintings. Beer was the most common drink in the 19th century in Denmark, and its by-products were spent grains and yeast. The study showed that they were used to provide a stable painting surface. Researchers also pointed out that beer by-product was used as a “glue” because it had a lot of sugar. With beer added, the paint can also dry faster. Apart from beer, egg has long been found in oil-based paints used by artists in the 15th century, such as Italian painter Leonardo da Vinci. A recent study published in Nature Communications may have “cracked” the secret of how eggs can help preserve artworks. The researchers re-created the ancient paint by adding egg yolks (蛋黄) to oil paint. They then looked into how it changed over time. The findings showed that the yolk’s proteins helped slow the oxidation (氧化) of the paint. It could also reduce wrinkling (皱褶) as the egg makes the paint more smooth. However, the oil paint with added egg usually takes longer to dry. It seemed fine for artists—they were willing to accept to have their work preserved for longer. “The more we understand how artists choose and use their materials, the more we can appreciate (欣赏) what they’re doing”, Ken Sutherland, an expert at the Art Institute of Chicago, US, told Science News. Sutherland added that research like this could help people have a deeper understanding of the artworks. 37. Why were beer by-products used in historic Danish paintings? A. To help the colors stick better. B. To keep the paintings clean. C. To make the paintings more colorful. D. To give the painting a different feel. 38. What does the underlined word “cracked” in paragraph 5 probably mean? A. kept. B. shared. C. discovered. D. explored. 39. How could egg yolk proteins change the paint? A. The paint could age faster. B. The paint could dry more quickly. C. The paint’s colors could be nicer. D. The paint could feel smoother. 40. From Sutherland’s words, we can know that ________ A. it’s easy to appreciate artworks in the right methods B. it’s important to understand the minds of artists C. it’s hard to research early artworks D. it’s necessary to help people understand artworks 第二节:阅读下面短文,从短文后所给的选项中选出能填够入短文空白处的最佳选项,使短文通顺连贯,其中有两项是多余选项。 What can you achieve in five days? Recently, China has made a big step toward self-driving technology. Since August, driverless taxis have run on roads in big cities like Shenzhen and Wuhan. Why do we develop self-driving cars? Self-driving cars give us many benefit (好处). They use computers to feel the things around them and make better use of space. This means fewer traffic jams and better parking of cars. For disabled or blind people, self-driving cars can also help them get around more easily. Every year, many road accidents happen around the world. The main cause of them is human error. With self-driving cars, road accidents can reduce by 90 percent. Because self-driving cars use computers to make good decisions, they won’t lose focus like humans do. But self-driving cars aren’t perfect. If something unexpected on the road happens, self-driving cars can’t react as fast as a human driver can. Also, during weather events like heavy snow, self-driving cars will struggle to see the lines on the road. It might lead to an accident. It’s clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self-driving cars a common and safe sight on our roads. Luckily, China is taking the lead in making this happen. 66.How long have driverless taxis run on roads in big cities? 67.Who can self-driving cars help to get around more easily? 68.What is the main cause of many road accidents? 69.How many reasons are mentioned to prove self-driving cars imperfect? 70.What do you think of the development of self-driving cars? 七、书面表达(共1小题;满分25分) 71.假如你是李华,上周你校举行了“Enjoy culture, enjoy life!”为主题的校园文化周活动,请你根据以下提示信息,为校英文报写一篇活动报道。 注意:(1)短文应包括所给提示信息,可适当发挥,使文章连贯; (2)词数90左右,短文开头已给出,不计入总词数; (3)文中不得出现考生的真实姓名、校名等信息。 Enjoy culture, enjoy life!
