Artificial intelligence(人工智能), or Al in short, is the science of giving computers and machines ability to think and work like humans.Al scientists and engineers have made a lot of cool technologies.
Al is rapidly catching up with the human ability to read faces, As a result, facial recognition(识别) is used a lot in the world. Chinese police use this technology to identify criminals (罪犯).Once they caught a criminal when he attended a concert. The system can show what self-driving cars will do. For example, if a driver less car is yielding(让路) , it will flash two white lights side to side. A rapidly flashing light tells passers-by that the car is about to speed up.
Service Robots also show you how powerful AI is. Imagine this-you come back home from school and your robot housekeeper is waiting for you at the door. After dinner, he teaches you to play the piano, just like a real music teacher, Such thoughts will soon happen in the real world. China has just opened its FAST radio telescope(射电望远镜)to international scientists. It means scientists across the world can apply for using the telescope to do astronomical observations.
FAST is short for Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope. It was completed in September2016 and it officially began operating in January 2020.Measuring 500 meters in diameter. FAST is the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, and is 10 times more sensitive than the 100-meter Radio Telescope Effelsberg in Germany.
The major scientific task of the telescope is the observation of pulsars(脉冲星).The study of pulsars can help to confirm the existence of gravitational radiation(引力辐射) and black holes, and help solve many other major questions in physics. Another major scientific goal of FAST is to search for life outside the Earth.
The telescope is located in a naturally deep and round karst depression(喀斯特洼地)in southwest China's Guizhou Province. The first advantage of the selected site is the altitude(海拔).The average altitude of Guizhou is about1,100 meters. Generally, the higher the altitude, the more the telescope can observe. Secondly, the radio telescope needs to have a"big pan"to receive better signals. The huge natural depression could reduce the difficulty of construction. Moreover, the selected site in Guizhou is far away from cities, and has a low population density, which reduces the interference(干扰) caused by wireless devices such as TVs, mobile phones and radios from human activities.
So far, FAST has found over 300 pulsars.Experts predict that the number could reach 1,000 in five years and that the telescope could find and locate the first pulsar outside the Galaxy.
6.Who can use FAST?
A.Chinese scientists. B. Scientists from all countries.
C.Soldiers and policemen. D.All Chinese citizens.
7. When did FAST start working officially?
A. In 2015. B. In 2016. C. In 2020. D. In 2021.
8.Which of the following is a main task of FAST?
A. To study black holes. B. To explore the sun.
C. To observe pulsars in the universe. D. To send signals into space.
9.What do we know from the fourth paragraph?
A. The advantages of the selected site for FAST.
B. Guizhou Province has the highest altitude in China.
C.The reasons for using mobile phones less.
D. FAST is built in a pan-shape place to keep people out.
10.What do scientists think FAST will probably be able to do in the future?
A. Identify more than 300 pulsars in five years.
B. Discover the first pulsar outside the Galaxy.
C. Locate wireless devices around the world.
D. Collect all kinds of sounds in space.

The word "hangry”, coming from “hungry”and “angry”,has been a part of the common lexicon (词汇表) for a while. Most people know the feeling of being so hungry that it starts to make them angry. Now a study in the real world has found a clear link (联系) between hunger and anger.
Before the study. most work on the link between hunger and anger in people was done in the laboratory.Still.Swami and his team wanted to see how strong the effect is on people as they go about their lives. "Many of us know that being hungry can influence our feelings, but surprisingly little scientific research has focused on being ‘hangry'.”says Viren Swami.from Anglia Ruskin University in the UK."Ours is the first study to examine being‘hangry' outside of the lab.”
They asked 64 volunteers from Europe to use a phone app to record how they felt and how hungry they were five times a day for three weeks. Sure enough, there was a link between people's hunger levels and their self-reported feelings of anger. When they were hungrier, they also felt less pleasure."The hungrier you are,the more likely it is that you will also feel angry and have less pleasure," says Viren Swami.
The same kind of “hangry” behavior(行为)has been seen in the animal world too,and scientists are hard at work trying to understand the reasons behind the link.
“Knowing more about how these feelings develop from our stomach can help us manage them better,”the team suggests.

A.It is only found in the lab. B. It is more about angry.

A. They tried to keep happy.
B. They recorded their feelings.
C. They ate once they were hungry.
D. They used a phone for pleasure.

A. It's worth making a further study.
B. It's important to keep a healthy diet.
C. It's difficult to manage our feelings.
D. Most feelings develop from Our stomach.
20.What is the best title for the passage?

Last week we went on a school trip to a science museum. Ms. Liu, the guide, showed us around a smart home.
We started with the front door. Ms. Liu asked me to ring the doorbell. l didn't notice the tiny camera that was fixed just above it. After I pressed (按) the doorbell, the camera sent a live video (视频直播) to the home-owners. They can electronically open the door when they are not at home,” said Ms. Liu.
The other thing I couldn't see on the door was a lock. “There must be one," I thought. At this time, Ms. Liu took out a smart phone and put it against the door. And it opened. “Oh, the key is on the smart phone.
After entering the living room, I saw a computer on a table. By using the computer, the owners can control how much energy is used. In this way, they can manage their living cost.
One of the rooms I wanted to see most was the bedroom. To my great surprise, the bed disappeared into the floor at the touch of the smart phone. The window has a smart blind (百叶窗). It can be raised and lowered with a voice.
As I left the smart home, I looked back on what I had just seen. Scientists often say that these products are improving our life. I think the technology in the smart home may make us lazier. However, there is no doubt that it will become more popular in the homes of tomorrow.
