Some were lying on the sand enjoying the sunshine. Some were playing beach volleyball. There were also some swimmers in the sea. I jumped into the sea and had great fun. Then I went to a restaurant. Dear Mr. Zhang,
I am Li Hua from Class Six, Grade Nine. I am very interested in the Chinese Traditional Culture Festival. Here are some of my suggestions about how to inherit traditional Chinese culture.
First of all,I think we can read some books and watch videos about Chinese traditional culture so that we can learn a lot from them. Second, there should be some traditional culture clubs for us to join, such as paper-cutting clubs and opera clubs. Next time when we need to introduce traditional culture to people from different countries or people who are not familiar with our customs, we know what to do. In addition, it's a good idea to draw some posters and put them up in our schoolyard.
To put it simply, it's necessary to understand and spread the true spirit of our Chinese traditional culture. I hope these ideas will be helpful.
Yours,
Li Hua

It was a busy morning. At around 8:30, an elderly man in his 80s came to the hospital. I heard him saying to the nurse that he was in a hurry for an appointment(约会) at 9:30. The nurse had him take a seat in the waiting area, telling him it would be at least 40 minutes before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I wasn't busy—my patient didn't appear at the appointed hour,I would examine his wound. While taking care of his wound,I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment.
He said no and told me that he needed to go to the nursing home to have breakfast with his wife. I then asked about his wife's health. He told me that they
were at the same age. She had been ill for a while and she had a special disease. I asked if she would be angry if he was a bit late. He replied that she didn't know who he was—she had not been able to recognize(认出) him for five years now. I was surprised and asked him,“And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?”
He smiled and said,“She doesn't know me, but I know who she is.”I had to hold back tears as he left.
Now I realize that true love is acceptance of all that is. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. Life isn't about how to live through the storm, but about how to dance in the rain.

Can a pineapple eat you? Now, don't be afraid. This question isn't about a sentient pineapple with a taste for humans. However, even without sentience, the pineapple can eat a little bit of you.
When you eat something, your stomach breaks down its large pieces into smaller ones. In the same way, pineapples can“eat”you by breaking down the pieces that make up the cells(细胞) in your body.
Pineapples have certain enzymes(酶) that can break down proteins(蛋白质). To understand this better, you can imagine a pearl necklace(珍珠项链). Many smaller pieces—the pearls—come together to form the long necklace of a protein. You can cut a necklace with a pair of scissors. In the same way, the enzymes in pineapples“cut up”proteins.
All living things are made up of proteins. They are an important part of the cells in your body. If an enzyme can break down a protein, it has the ability to break cells. When you eat a pineapple, the enzymes in it will break the cells in your mouth. This is why your mouth will hurt if you eat too many pineapples.
But luckily, the cells in your mouth heal(愈合) fast. And after you have eaten the pineapple, the special enzymes will end up getting broken down by your stomach. It won't eat you anymore.
Why do pineapples have these enzymes? In fact, the enzymes in young pineapples are stronger than those in fully-grown pineapples. Therefore, some scientists believe that they are created by the plant to stop animals from eating its unripe fruit. Once the fruit is fully-grown, its enzymes won't hurt an animal's mouth and the fruit will be okay to eat.
Another explanation is that the enzymes help the plant to grow. They play an important role in sending messages to the cells of the plant. These messages tell the cells when to start and stop growing. Without these enzymes, the seed may not be able to properly develop.
根据材料内容选择最佳答案。

A. Proteins are a common form of enzymes.

How can I fight laziness?
Lazy people will never achieve anything in life. However, laziness can be defeated once a few changes have been made in your mind.
36 Many people lack sleep constantly, since they stay up too late and get up too early to prepare for work. These people have little motivation once they arrive home. Laziness works hand in hand with a lack of motivation and a tendency to put off things. By adjusting your
sleep schedule to provide a few more hours of meaningful rest, you can fight laziness throughout the day.
Another way to fight laziness is to change your mind from passive to active. Some people treat their lives as if they were pushed from task to task. Others take a more proactive approach, viewing each task as a challenge they must overcome alone. 37
Some people fight laziness by removing the temptations(诱惑) that surround them. A television in the living room may provide entertainment, but watching too much TV often contributes to laziness. 38 Complete a few tasks and reward yourself with what you enjoy, such as a good dinner or a film.
Laziness can also be a lasting problem at home. Couples and children may all have different energy levels, but laziness can be spread if not being dealt with immediately. 39 Be the first to collect and wash dishes after a meal. Others in the home may eventually follow your example and practice their own task. It is difficult to practice laziness when you are surrounded by motivated people.
40 Enough exercise and a balanced diet can help you to develop a healthy lifestyle, thus enabling you to have more energy and help lift your spirits.
根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。
A. To fight family laziness, set an example.
B. Create a reward system for yourself, just as parents do for the children.
C. One way to fight laziness is to get enough sleep.
D. Finally, taking exercise regularly can help you fight laziness.
E. Laziness sets in when you no longer feel in charge of your own life.
