Listening and Speaking Course Design
(Unit5 “Why do you like pandas?”)
Instructional Design Concept
This class adopts task-based teaching method and communicative method under the concept of unit holistic design, and creates a real situation in which everyone has something to sell according to key competency advocated by the English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education (2022 Edition) and the cognitive level of eighth grade students based on Bloom’s classification of cognitive learning objectives.
Teaching Objectives
Through this course, students will be able to:
· Language competence:
1. learn to describe animals.
Vocabulary: cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, scary, kind, sleep
Phrase: kind of, all day, on two legs
Sentence pattern:
Imperative sentence: Let’s see the lions.
2. learn to express preferences.—
Express preferences:
—What animals do you like?
—I like koalas. —
Why do you like koalas? —
Because they’re very cute.
· Cultural awareness:
Students will be able to love animals.
· Learning capacity:
1. Students can further think about the expression of preferences
2. Students can improve their listening skills through a variety of listening activities, such as predicting before listening.
· Thinking quality:
1. Improve students’ English thinking ability and initial use of English communication ability.
2. Students can use the language in real life situations.
