Dear Mike,
My roommate,Bill,is always trying to talk to me. I don’t really like him,so I don’t like to talk to him. But whenever he notices that I’m free,he comes over and bothers(打扰)me[1]. I want him to leave me alone, but I don’t want to hurt his feelings. What should I do?

Dear Peter,
I’m a pretty quiet person. I don’t really like to talk either. I can kind of understand how you feel. In fact, there isn’t really much you can do in this situation. But I might be able to give some advice.
Do you have other friends at school?Maybe you can just try to avoid(回避)your roommate and spend more time with your friends. You could also find a new hobby that takes up more of your time. If your roommate sees that you’re busy working on something,he might not bother you as often.

However, the best thing to do might be to simply tell your roommate[2] that you don’t like to talk much. You don’t have to tell him that you don’t like him—just tell him that you’re a little shy and would like to have peace and quiet. He will probably understand.
