Why don’t you do…? 意为“你为什么不……呢?”
用于向对方询问原因,其后接动词原形。还可向对方提建议,相当于 “Why not do…?”
e.g. Why don’t you go to bed now?=Why not go to bed now?
拓展: 我们学过用来提建议的句子有:
Let’s do. Sth. / why don’t you do sth.?/ why not do sth.?/How about doing sth.?/

sleep v 睡觉 e.g Don’t sleep in class. n睡觉 e.g. The old man wants to have a good sleep.
【辨析】sleep/go to bed/ go to sleep
(1)sleep强调“睡觉”这一动作,是延续性动词。e.g. Be quiet! Mary is sleeping.
(2) go to bed 意为“上床睡觉”,着重指准备上床睡觉的动作。
e.g. It’s too late, and it’s time to go to bed.
(3) go to sleep 入睡 e.g. I went to sleep at nine and woke up at six.
