1. Students read to find the main idea of each paragraph;
2. Students finish some reading comprehension tasks.

1. Study the reading strategy of understanding a lecture;
2. Students learn to use the strategies while reading a lecture transcript.
教学过程
Step 1 Pre-reading
1. Show students some pictures about the movie Castle in the sky, and share the teacher’s experience of visiting a world heritage site Fanjing Mountain with them.
2. Introduce the topic “heritage in danger” by giving an example of doing damage to the Fanjing Mountain.
3. Brain storming: What other dangers do you think Fanjing Mountain is faced with ?
Possible answers:
Human activities such as uncivilized behavior, too many tourists and littering.
Natural forces such as water, wind and earthquake.

Step 2 Fast reading
1. Read for the main idea of each paragraph. Ask students to read the lecture transcript as quickly as possible within 7 minutes and and finish A1 on page 46.

Step 3 Careful reading
Have students read each paragraph carefully and finish the following 3 tasks.

Step 4 Reading strategy
