Rationale(基本理念)
i. Building a common foundation for general junior high school English learning while meeting students’ needs of individualized development.
ii. Adopting an activity-based approach to English learning and focusing on improving students’ ability in learning and using English.
iii. Emphasizing the use of modern information technology to enrich English learning resources.
Teaching objectives(教学目标)
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to
i. name the major places of the school, express their functions and know what they can do in these places;
understand the word building (e.g. classroom, playground).
ii. use the expressions and structures to introduce their school to others.
iii. get into the new class and school faster, establish a strong sense of honor for being a member of No.32 Middle School;
enjoy English learning and working together with others.
Teaching focus and difficulties(教学重点和难点)
Teaching focus: using the key phrases and structures to introduce the school.
Teaching difficulties: arousing students’ interest and improving their English communication skills.

T plays the song Our school will shine. Sing it together with ss.
Activate the learning atmosphere and introduce the topic of this lesson.
Presentation
T shows ss pictures of our school (different classrooms, such as, math classroom, history classroom, lab, library, playground, etc.) and describes the places.
In the process of doing this, mark the important language notes and provide more sentences.
