There were not only routes on land, but also routes by sea. 不仅有陆上的线路,还有海路。 not only…but also…所表达的意思是“不但……而且……”,具体用法有: (1)用于连接两个对等的成分;若连接两个成分作主语,其后谓语动词与靠近的主语保持一致,即就近原则。 She likes not only music but also sport. 她不但喜欢音乐而且喜欢运动。 Not only Tom but also his parents are enjoying the film. 不仅Tom在欣赏这部影片,他的父母也在欣赏这部影片。 (2)not only…but also…中的also通常可以省略。 He not only washed the car, but polished it. 他不仅冲洗汽车,而且还擦拭了它。 (3)为了强调,可将not only置于句首,此时其所在的句子通常要用部分倒装。 Not only has she been late three times, she has also done no work. 她不仅仅迟到了3次,她还没干一点活。 Not only do they need clothing, but also they are short of water. 他们不但需要衣服,而且还缺水。 巩固练习 用所给动词适当形式填空。 (1) Not only she but also he______ (learn) English now.
