I was doing the work in the garden yesterday. It was a soft evening and I was
making the most of it when I heard a neighbor’s voice coming from the path out of our
garden.
“That’s no place to be sleeping!” he said.
I found there was a man lying on his back on the path with his eyes closed.I
recognized him.I had seen him doing the drunkard’s(酒鬼) walk along that path
several times.
I stopped to walk out.“Do you need some help?” I asked.
He opened his eyes and said, “Probably.” Then he told me because of arthritis
(关节炎) he couldn’t walk well at the most of times.I thought I should do it when he
asked to help him go home where he lived a few hundred meters away.
I tried to let him walk under his own strength with me guiding him but that was
getting us nowhere. It was easier to carry him, but that would be a real insult(侮辱)
to him.So, I held his left hand with my left hand and grabbed his belt with my right
hand.Then we started walking slowly.
On the way he told me his name, what he had worked as, what holidays he had
been, how wonderful his granddaughter was, what his wife’s name was—and what
a hard time she would give him when he got home!
Thank goodness! His wife wasn’t in when we walked forty-five minutes back to

Do you know that there is National Dog Day? At first, Americans everywhere
celebrated this festival for the special dogs in their lives on August 26.And now we
think we’d like to celebrate the holiday by talking about service animals.
The service animal is any animal that gives help to disabled people.Usually when
we talk about a service animal we think of guide dogs for the blind. There is a survey
shows that most of the service animals are dogs.
But there are actually all kinds of animals that help disabled people. Here are two
service animals that you probably have never thought they could be service animals:
Mini horses
This type of service animal is a great choice for someone who needs help to
walk. Many people who are blind use horses as their guides. And these horses are really
good at their jobs. The horse is careful, gentle(温和的) and sharp-eyed.73.And the
most important thing is that mini horses can live to be 30 years old. That’s much longer
than service dogs.
Monkeys
Another very special service animal choice is the monkey.74.Monkeys are good at
catching things, which is good for quadriplegics(四肢瘫痪者)and other disabled
people. These monkeys can do all kinds of things: bringing water, opening doors,
and even feeding someone.
71. Is National Dog Day a festival only for dogs now? Why?
72. What can monkeys do to help disabled people?
B. 将短文中画线的句子译成汉语。
73.
74.
C. 请给短文拟一个适当的英文标题。
No,it isn’t.Because there are actually all kinds of animals that help disabled
people.

而且最重要的一点是迷你小马可以活到30岁。
