Teacher activity:
1.First, play a short video about time machine.
2.Let Ss read the excerpt of The Time Machine and ask some questions.
· What does the Time Traveller think of the fourth dimension?
· If you had a time machine, which dynasty would you go back to? Why?
· Which historical figure would you like to meet? What would you say to him/her?
(1. The Time Traveller thinks that Time is the same as the other three dimensions. He said, "Length, Breadth and Thickness do not pass. We move about in them. We move in Time the same way that we move in the other three dimensions." He believes that because Time is like the other three dimensions, we can travel through Time.
2. If I had a time machine, I would like to go back to the Tang Dynasty. I have always been fascinated by Chang'an, so I wish I could travel to the ancient capital and see what life was like back then.
3. I would like to meet Li Bai or Du Fu. I love their poetry, so it would be really amazing to meet them. I would ask them many questions about their poems and why they wrote them. For example, "Mr Li Bai, why do you include the image of the moon in your poems so often? Does the moon have special meaning to you?" "Mr Du Fu, why do your poems show great concern for the country and common people?")
