He should leave.
(2)否定直接加not He should leave.
He should leave.
1. can, could的用法
Can you play basketball?
Can I open the window?
Li Hua can’t be in the classroom.
I could swim when I was seven years old.
—Could I have the television on?
—Yes, you can. / No, you can’t.
区分:can 和be able to
be able to可以用于各种时态。
例:They will be able to tell you the news soon.
2)只用be able to
c. 表示成功地做了某事时,只能用was/were able to, 不能用could。
例:He was able to flee Europe before the war broke out.= He managed to flee Europe before the war broke out.
2. may的用法
May I borrow your book?
—May I go now? —No, you mustn’t.
He may come tomorrow.
May you success!
3. must的用法
以must开头的一般疑问句,肯定句回答用must,而否定回答常用needn’t表示“不需要,不必”,相当于don’t have to。如:
There’s someone knocking at the door. It must be Jim.
—Must I finish the project today?—No, you needn’t.
4. need
需要: need为实义动词,need to do 需要做某事 need doing 需要被做
—Need I finish it right now?—Yes,you must. / No,you needn’t
5. should(应该)的用法
should表示“应该”,同义词是 ought to (应当)和had better(最好)
我们通常用should, ought to 或 had better 给他人提建议
注意:ought to 的否定为“oughtn’t to” had better的否定为“had better not”
I should go home. It’s midnight.
I shouldn’t spend too much money.
You ought to read more English books.
You had better go to hospital at once.
