It was a 23.neighbor called Mario, coming to 24.bring us a box containing some tomatoes and a bottle of wine ...
...
It's good to eat things at the correct time, when they're 38.in_season,_and as close as possible to where they were 39.grown. What Mario had __40__ us was the taste of the Garfagnana.
40.A.cooked B.given
C.bought D.told
My life as a tax-paying employed person began in middle school, when, for three whole days, I worked in a baking factory.
...I'd45.earn minimum wage. I'd see how a factory 46.worked ...
...This was 50.harder than it sounds. 51.Slow_down a bit and the cakes pile up. As I told my parents at dinner that first night, it was all a little more high-pressure than I'd 52.expected.
Dad 53.smiled. The son of a grocer, he'd spent the summers of his childhood 54.delivering food in Bernardsville, New Jersey. This was the sort of work that made you __55__ the dollars you earned and respect those who did the work, he told me.
55.A.withdraw B.donate
C.receive D.appreciate
