Ⅰ.阅读理解
(2024·原创)Different people have different feelings about giving speeches. For Diana, making a speech in front of her schoolmates and teachers is not only an honor but also a challenge.
In February, Diana was chosen to give a speech. As she had never made a public speech, she was very excited at first. She practiced her speech over and over again so she could make it easily. Although the process was tiring, she felt satisfied with it.
However, when she saw how big the hall was during the preparation the next day, she suddenly felt so nervous that her hands were trembling(颤抖) with fear. She knew that if she did anything wrong on stage, over two thousand people would see it. Luckily, her speech partner comforted her and told her not to be worried. And he also suggested that she take a deep breath to relax herself. She did it at once and then read her notes aloud so that she wouldn't forget them while she was speaking.
Soon, it's her turn to give a speech. She held the microphone tightly and walked onto the stage. She could see the whole audience(观众) and all of the cameras around her, but she chose to ignore them. She did her best to relax and calm down. She only focused on her speech and interacted with her partner in a free manner. Finally, it was over. The audience cheered for her. She was not only pleased but also filled with pride.
Months have passed, but Diana still remembers that experience clearly. Now, she confidently gives news reports to her classmates and can even host an opening without feeling nervous. The secret to her confidence is forgetting where she is and simply enjoying the process and experience.
