If anyone can be called a scientific giant(巨人) after Albert Einstein, that person must be Stephen Hawking. On March 14, 2018, the world-famous British scientist died at 76 in Cambridge, the UK.
Hawking was found to have a serious illness when he was 21. It stopped him from walking and talking. He had to sit in a wheel- chair and “speak” using a computerized voice. However, his illness could not stop him 'from achieving great things.
He explained that the universe(宇宙) began with the Big Bang and would end in black holes. This became the basis for a lot of other research.“My goal is simple,"he once said.“It's a complete understanding of the universe.”
Hawking also made great efforts to help others understand the universe, He wrote A Brief History of Time which has sold more than 10 million copies around the world. In the book, he explains the start and end of the universe using a simple language. He also wrote books for children, like George and The Big Bang. They help kids learn about space.
Stephen Hawking was also a great father. He had three children, and he passed on three pieces of advice to them.
Always keep working, because work gives purpose and meaning in life. Always look at the stars; never look down at your feet. If you are lucky enough, you will find love. Never throw it away.
Hawking has left us. But just as his children said after his death,Hawking's works and spirit will live on for many years.
