A
Once upon a time, there was a girl called Iris. She liked playing football with the boys in her class. And she never liked to do what other girls did.
Iris was welcome among the boys in her class because she played football better than many of them.
However, Iris’s girl friends began to stay away from her. Iris felt sad and she didn’t understand why.
One morning, on her way to school, Iris saw her friend Caroline and decided to talk to her.
“Caroline, why don’t you want me to be your friend any more?” asked Iris.
“You play football with boys. It makes you look like a boy,” said Caroline.
Iris was a little angry. She said, “I play with the boys because I like the sport. But I also like to play with you and that shouldn’t be a problem.”
Days passed. One morning, Iris was playing football with two boys when Caroline came to her.
“Iris, I have been thinking about what you said these days. You’re right. I should respect (尊重) your hobby. I’m sorry,” Caroline said.
Iris’s friend learned to respect her hobby and understood that there is no sport just for girls or boys. You can do the sport as long as you like it.
