a. War Risk战争险
Insurance Coverage of War Risk战争险的承保责任范围
War Risk covers: Losses caused by war, war-like events, armed conflicts or piratical behaviors; Damage resulting from arrest, detain, inhibition or seizure caused by the above mentioned reasons; Losses caused by regular arms such as torpedo and bombs; General average or expenses caused by coverage under this clause.
Commencement and Termination of War Risk 战争险的保险责任起讫
It is based on “ocean” clauses and limited to ocean risks, which is totally different from Warehouse to Warehouse Clauses. That is to say, the insurer’s coverage begins when the cargo is loaded at the port of shipment dominated by the insurance policy and ends when the cargo is unloaded at the port of destination. If the cargo fails to be unloaded at the port of destination, then the war coverage automatically ends by 15 days after the cargo arrives at the port of destination; if transshipment happens, whether or not the cargo is unloaded locally, the insurance coverage ends by 15 days after the cargo arrives at the port of destination and once the cargo is loaded on another ship, the insurance coverage continues to be valid.
b. Strikes Risk罢工险
It covers loss of or damage to the cargo insured directly caused by acts of strikers and locked-out workmen. But it does not cover loss of or damage to the cargo caused by lack of labor force or failure to apply the workforce. For instance, cargo suffers losses without fuel added or due to the malfunction of the air-conditioner caused strike, so the insurer doesn’t compensate for them.
According to the international insurance practice, the insured shall not be charged with any other expense as long as the insured has already covered War Risk and generally War Risk is covered together with Strikes Risk.
