unexpected作形容词表示“意想不到的,意外的,出乎意料的”
该词的词根是动词expect,表示“期望,期待”,其中ed是表形容词的后缀,比如interested“感兴趣的”,surprised“吃惊的”,bored“感到无聊的”等;
un则是否定前缀,多放在形容词前,比如unhappy“不开心的,不幸福的”,unsafe“不安全的”,unable“不能的”,unusual“不寻常的”等
