Follow-up Letters
Objectives
Compose appropriate follow-up letters;
Express enthusiasm for the position;
Be confident in the follow-up;
Avoid misplaced modifiers.
Objectives
A follow-up letter is often synonymous with a thank-you letter, but it’s actually a little different. In the job search process, a follow- up letter is sent to a potential employer after you initially send your résumé for review or after an interview. It is an effective way to separate yourself from a sea of other qualified candidates after an interview. The follow-up letter serves two purposes: (1) It reminds the interviewer of your skills, knowledge and abilities. (2) It demonstrates that you remain interested in working for the company and that you were impressed by the organizational culture. The letter should show the reader that you are thorough, courteous, efficient, and sincerely interested in the job.
Getting Started

I am vigorously interested in the opening of Security Applications job, as it is a new and expanding area. My current experience in implementing IT security policies and training in firewall technology relate closely to the requirements for that particular job.
I am also impressed by the benefits offered by the company, especially the chance to pursue a graduate business degree at the University of California.
