Learning Objectives 3 02 Part 1 Basic Knowledge Shipment and Shipping Advice 1. The Definition of“Shipment” 　　Shipment is a very important part in foreign trade, as goods from the seller have to be delivered to the buyer abroad, and the delivery of goods is to be made possible by transport services. There are different means of conveyance—by road or rail, by sea or air, but the most commonly used mode of transportation is the seaway due to its low freight cost. 　　In practice, shipment involves procedures such as clearing the goods through the customs, booking shipping space or chartering a ship, completing shipping documents and dispatching shipping advice. Letters regarding shipment are usually written for the following purposes: to urge the early shipment, to amend shipping terms, to give shipping advice and to dispatch shipping documents, etc. 译　文 4 译文 1.“装运”的定义 　　装运是对外贸易中非常重要的部分，因为货物必须要通过运输由卖方交付给国外的买方。运输服务有不同的运输方式—公路或铁路，海运或空运，但最常用的运输方式是海运，因为它的运费低。 　　在实际操作中，装运涉及到诸如货物清关、订舱、租船、交单，发装船通知等流程。有关装运的信函通常用于以下目的：敦促提前发货、修改装运条款、发出装船通知、寄送运输单据等。 返回 02 Part 1 Basic Knowledge 2. The Introduction of“Shipping Advice” 　　Shipping Advice is a note usually sent by the seller immediately to inform the buyer after the goods are loaded on the ship. It gives a detailed description of the goods including the name of the ship, the date of shipment, the name of the goods, the quantity as well as the specifications.
