专题04 阅读理解-2023-2024学年七年级英语上学期期末备考 牛津上海版(试用本)
(2022上·上海·七年级上海市建平中学西校校考期末)It was my first day of study in Australia. I stood in the school library and watched through the window. It was 12:45 pm. Kids were all enjoying the tasty food and fresh air. The same scene happened two hours ago. And during the period of time, I had eaten all of my food. What should I do now?
No one could help me. I thought I should buy something to eat. One of my classmates, Coco came to me. She seemed to be a little shy. “I think I’ve made a mistake,” said Coco. “I had my lunch at recess. Now, I have nothing for lunch!” we made the same mistake.
In Australia, a school day has three lesson blocks, broken up by two breaks: recess and lunch. Lunch break is from 12:45 pm to 1:30 pm. Before that, there’s a 30-minute break at about 10:45 am. It’s called “recess”, a period for you to eat snacks.
Next time when you visit an Australian school, please remember: Keep your lunch until the real lunch period.
