After years of efforts, China’s space station will soon be fully ready for service. Over the past nineteen years, China has been making great progress in space technology. In the past, the astronauts could stay in space station for only twenty-three hours, but now they can stay there for six months. The number of astronauts one spaceship can carry also has increased from one to three. Till now, China has sent sixteen astronauts into space since 2003.
On November 29th, 2022, when the Shenzhou XV spaceship docked with (与……对接) the space station, the three astronauts already staying in the station handed it over to the three new arrivals before returning to Earth. During the following weeklong period, there were six people living in the space station. With the arrival of the Shenzhou XV spaceship, the Chinese space station opened a new chapter for China’s space program. More than forty space science and technology experiments will be done by the Shenzhou XV astronauts. With more scientific research materials to be sent to the space station, China’s space station will be considered as a world-class university laboratory in space.
Requests have been received from several countries to send astronauts to join in the space station experiments, and China is actively preparing for the training of foreign astronauts. The International Space Station (ISS) has done over three thousand experiments during its time in service, and the Chinese space station, the only one space station after the ISS stops working, will continue to help people get better understanding of space. That is worth looking forward to.
