To: John White, Sales Manager
From: Mary Carter
Subject: Report on sales decrease
Date: July 29th, 2013
Introduction
This report aims to find out the reason of the decrease in our sales volume and to work out solutions.
Findings
As I have mentioned before, our sales volume decreased from about $6 million in the first quarter to an estimated $4 million in the third quarter, and the market is generally flat. It was found that the main reason for this situation is that our biggest customer wants more commission, which is about 25% higher compared to the previous year.
Conclusion
Even though we face a low phase now, there’re signs of recovery in consumer confidence. And we got a huge possibility to make a contract with big hotel chains refurnishing twelve hotels.
Recommendations
It would be advisable to raise commissions across the board, and we can also increase our budget on advertising.
Question 1
In the Introduction part, does the author tell us the aim of the report directly or indirectly?
