Fortune is a multinational business magazine, published and owned by Time Inc. and headquartered in New York City. The magazine regularly publishes ranked lists. Perhaps the best known is the Fortune 500, a ranking of companies by revenue that it has published annually since 1955. This year’s Fortune 500 marks the 63rd running of the list. In total, Fortune 500 companies represent two-thirds of the U.S. GDP with $12 trillion in revenues, $890 billion in profits, $19 trillion in market value, and employ 28.2 million people worldwide. Wal-mart stores from USA earn the top spot on the list with a revenue of $485,873 million, followed by State Grid, a state-owned corporation in China, which has a revenue of $315,199 million. Sinopec Group and China National Petroleum are ranked the third and the fourth, both of which are Chinese oil and gas companies. Their revenues are respectively $267,518 million and $262,573 million. And the fifth ranking goes to Toyota Motor, a well-known Japanese automobile manufacturer, whose revenue is up to $254,694. Go to fortune.com, and you can learn more information.
