Topic Introduction
International trade is the exchange of goods, and services across international borders or territories. International trade is the engine that runs most countries. In most countries, such trade represents a significant share of gross domestic product (GDP). While international trade has existed for a long time (e.g. Silk Road, Amber Road, Atlantic slave trade, salt roads, etc.), its economic, social, and political importance has been on the rise in recent centuries.

Topic Introduction
International business comprises a large and growing portion of the world’s total business. Almost all companies, large or small, are affected by global events and competition because most sell products to foreign countries and/or secure suppliers from foreign countries, and/or compete against products and services that come from abroad as well. In the 21st century, China, the European Union and the United States are the three largest trading markets in the world. Today, facts and figures prove that online trade becomes truly profitable, as e-commerce is transforming the world into one global marketplace, while Chinese cross-border e-commerce is made of mostly Chinese merchants selling overseas.
